I never heard of it. Since it says "Mellow Virginia in a shag cut; medium moisture with a full, bright flavor. Our most popular rolling tobacco" it sounds promising. But, since they are calling it "cigarette tobacco," are they able to ship it interstate? If you place the cursor over tobacco, and then over "cigarette tobacco" and click, you'll find Gold Shag on the "Cigarette Tobaccos" page.

$3.95/oz. is $63.20/lb. The 8 oz. price is $30 and 1 lb. price is $57.

Obviously it's a Virginia gold leaf. This past summer i spent some time with the local Virginia Ag agent learning about Gold leaf and Va Lemon tobaccos. Also visited two tobacco farmers as potential suppliers.

Point of this is, i learned there's a big difference in taste/flavor of a common strain like Va Gold Leaf, depending on when it was harvested. Sometimes the farmer is forced to harvest a crop early because of weather, or other conditions.

Since it's the same price as Gawith Hoggarth's KG, and we've never heard of them, there's no telling what kind of controls they've placed on the crop they purchase, and Gawith Hoggart's KG is consistently, predictably, year to year the same pleasant smoke - why waste your time & money trying their KG??

The Kendal Gold is often in short supply. It may be a good alternative if it is not available. I would like to read a review if anyone tries it. Especially regarding to preservatives added. I cannot stand pipe tobacco preservative. There is a little in RYO tobacco but not usually enough to notice. For example... Peter Stokkebye Virginia Long Cut would be delightful but the preservative in it wears on me quick and ruins the experience. What a shame.

something just isn't right with that vendor - i'm not sure what, something is sounding alarm bells.

iirc, i thought pipe tobaccos had to either have been offered since 2008 or registered and a $2 million dollar fee paid. ??

I may try and order an ounce of it. I read this place has been in business for over 100 years. They have good reviews mostly. The shipping or restrictions might be the killer. On Google maps you can go inside the place and look around the store.

Turns out I won't be able to get any of the virginia shag. He said they can't ship cigarette tobacco to me. Only pipe tobacco.
