Default Well it's started

it's 10:30AM here in Richmond, VA and the great blizzard of 2016 has started with a bang - no whimpering snowfall - it's coming down heavy already - this is definitely going to be a snowstorm.

sitting back toking on my first smoke of the day, GH KG with a pinch of perique and a warm cup of java, after covering the windshields in plastic.

I got lucky. I live just north of I70 in Ohio. Right exactly where the cutoff line is. Yay

You others that aren't so lucky.... Be careful out there.

local news said we'd had 8" earlier with expectation of 15" by AM - if true, not that bad but this is an area that hasn't seen snow for 5 years, and doesn't see it that often - 1" and traffic slows to a crawl

what shocked me was how accurate the local weather forecast was - last nite they said it was expected to start snowing at 10:00 AM or slightly later, and sure enough, about 10:20 it was snowing

It just started here. At the moment, it's just light snowfall. But we're expected to get 10"-16." We can handle that ... but what has me more concerned is that the forecast also has high winds. That means blizzard conditions, as well as the possibility of losing electricity (and with it, heat).

You don't have a generator mask? For about $900 you can get a 2000w Honda that will fire up after sitting for years. A few years back I lost power for 3 days. It sucked, be we had heat and tv. Even ran a line to the neighbor for heat intermittently

The only time I lost electricity for an extended period of time was when Hurricane Sandy struck--six days. Oddly, the house next door got power restored after only 29 hours, and a block-and-a-half further up the street never lost electricity!

Dumbass local weathermen use I-70 as a border line too. Odd thing is I think it's true. A half a mile away often its raining yet I get nothing here. I find it strange. I'm in western Indiana. Over the years Ive watched the rain clouds up north just pass me by.
