    Hello kelly10,

    I read your post on the "Nicotine addition at night" thread. Since it describes an almost identical predicament to my own, I though I would pass on to you what I do.

    While it may not necessarily result in me sleeping longer, there are some things I do to promote a better overall sleep environment. Basically, I try to put myself in the mood to sleep by having a routine and some quiet time.

    Put down the phone and turn off the television.
    Drink a warm cup of milk.
    Read a few chapters in a good book.

    The idea being to reinforce the circadian rhythm to suppress the nicotine craving until I get up. I only sleep about 6 hours, too, but I want to make them count.

    A routine does help promote a deeper sleep for me, without waking up. Just thought I would pass mine along.
