I'm a 51-year-old male Newport smoker from Michigan. I started in July of 1980, at age 12, when I first inhaled from a Newport I'd discovered left behind by some guests. I had a long fascination with smoking, and smoking women and girls in particular. Given that it was the 1970s, there were plenty of smoking examples to be found and I closely observed them all. I had dreams about smoking years before that day in the summer between 7th and 8th grades when I first took the plunge. I remember being shocked at the taste and that I had inhaled without coughing. Then I was surprised by the sensations and knew I wanted to smoke.

As it turns out, I still want to smoke and am glad to have found this little refuge filled with others who are of a similar mind. There aren't a lot of places around with so many people who not only enjoy smoking but who aren't shy about admitting it.

"The heart has its reasons, whereof reason knows nothing." We like what we like, which is why it's great that there are so many options. I think the old Newport tag line "After all, if smoking isn't a pleasure, why bother?" applies here.

For the welcome. I remember you said that your sister usually smokes Marlboro Menthol 100s but prefers the Newport 100s when she's visiting in the States. For me, it's easy to see why.
