Smoking at the office

I was wondering how others dealt with smoking in an office environment. I work in a building with multiple companies. Behind the building is a designated smoking shelter (cover for bad weather) where the smokers congregate. When I go out I usually bring my purse with me so I have everything I need - open pack, a full pack, my lighter, my phone, etc. Occasionally somebody from an office other than mine will hit me up for a cigarette (there are some repeat offenders). I will almost always give them one. I consider it payback for when I first started working in an office and was bumming off the smokers I worked with. How do others handle this?

Smoking at the office

I will gladly give a fellow smoker a cigarette if they need one, even repeat offenders. The only problem they have is that I smoke menthol and many smokers are not fans, at least where I work. Having said that I have converted a couple of coworkers to Salems.

My office is my car. I drive a ton every day for work and can smoke as much as I want to. Usually at least 2 packs

At my work (for an 8 hour shift) I get 2x 15 minute breaks and a 30 minutes lunch, considering I only smoke 3-5 cigarettes per day I don't usually go out on my breaks but rather have one cigarette on my lunch which I have in my car (to escape from other people!).

On the rare occasion I do smoke in the smoking shelter I take my pack with me but on the occasions I've been asked for a cigarette I am usually smoking menthols so the answer is normally "no thanks"!!

I take a pack but no one who goes to the smoking area behind the office building ever bums cigarettes from others in all the time I've been working there. Everyone always has their own cigarettes. Sometimes people forget their lighters but I've never seen or heard anyone bumming a smoke.

Whenever I'm in the office, I'll step out for a smoke whenever I really need one and time allows for it. There are some other Smokers as well, including my boss so whenever he steps out, he'll ask me to join him.

The last time I worked in an office setting was in the 70's and early 80's. Back then most of us had an ashtray, an open pack, and a lighter on our desks, and smoked very regularly. If I were in an office setting today, I'd just take a cigarette or two and my lighter with me on smoke break.

Always bring my pack because you never know who you run into and end up smoking more than you had planned. I always share if somebody bums, which does not happen a lot, however since everybody comes to the smoke shed for one reason only and that is to smoke.

On second thought, maybe I would bring my pack with me, even if I'm just planning to smoke one. For as long as I can remember, my open pack and I are seldom separated.

Not at the office

Iím still a bit of a closet smoker so donít typically smoke at work or in a place where colleagues would see me. I usually then end up having a couple of cigarettes before getting the train. Iím usually asked by some rushed commuter either for a lighter or a cigarette. I almost always share and end up in interesting or brief conversation. My smoking would be much more common if I did feel
Comfortable smoking around colleagues but when people see you as a non smoker it would be wierd if they just saw me outside puffing away.
