Default Poll: Late Bloomers

This is a spinoff from a poll in The Refuge, an attempt to find out, are late bloomers more likely to be male, or female. Please take the poll, and let's find out.

Male here. Grew up around smoking and certainly couldn't wait until I turned 18 to see what all the fuss was about. Tried my first cigarette at 12 or 13 and the rest is history.

Amazingly, I was around it growing up, but did not start until the age of 23.

Myself I was 12 (male). My sister is the oldest I know, at 35. She never smoked, but married a guy who'd been smoking all his life. They had 2 kids and after that she started figuring she was done child rearing and took up smoking.

Male- Started smoking at 18 according to plan - it was infrequent and in the closet but I began to thoroughly enjoy it and smoking more and more frequently which turned into daily smoking towards the end of college as I was hopelessly hooked- I’ve quit four times always to return - currently I dip and Vape and will smoke cigarettes if I’m drinking

I started smoking at 13 (male) so certainly was not a late bloomer. Looking back I was too young when I started. Buying cigarettes at such a young age was not very easy and being hooked I did need to.

I started when I was 25 and it was something that was not a rush decision and it was one that I considered all the pros/cons, what would others think, etc, tc and once I finally made the decision to start, I knew that there were going to be reactions of varying degrees, but, the most important was being upfront and honest with my parents on my own terms that I had decided to start smoking and it was my decision alone and I wasn't forced or pressured into to it.

My parents accepted it and ever since then, other the comments here and there from others, it hasn't been a problem and yes, I did lose some friends, but, I gained some and being a smoker helped in meeting my true love, Brieanna, who eventually became my wife last September 15th and we just got back from a week's plus vacation in Vegas, to relax and celebrate and not have to worry about being smokers.

I started when I was 24 years old (nearly 11 years ago). I used to be very anti, but that changed when I was between 23 and 24 years old. I met some very nice smokers and finally I became curious About Smoking. So I made the decision to give it a try.
