They get a higher price than genetics around here, though not much. Something like .25 or so per pack. A lot of times there will be promo packs for them, like 2 for one deals shrink wrapped together. They really suck though. I think the full on generics are better. I've smoked quite a few different cheap smokes trying to find a way to save a nickel

Hey guys it's been a while here. So last time I checked in I was going to buy Camel Crushes and Marlboro Blues for the week, which I did, and then the next week I bought American Spirits (the kinda sky blue pack) and Marlboro Blacks. I ended up with a big problem: I liked all 4 of them.

The Marlboro Blues I liked a lot better than Newport. Newport I found kinda harsh and nasty, but the Marlboro went down smooth and tasted delicious, almost sweet. It was probably the easiest cigarette to smoke of any I've tried. The problem is that it's a menthol and I really don't think I'm a menthol guy, and it also feels kind of like a girl's cigarette.

Feel kinda guilty saying this but I liked the Camel Crush a lot. The whole concept just seems really chill to me--like I don't think I want to buy a whole pack of menthols but it's cool to have the option to make one a menthol, or even to switch over while you're smoking. Plus there was just something about the image that worked for me.

American Spirits are fucking ridiculous. Tons of flavor but took forever to smoke which was annoying because people would be done smoking and I'd still have half a cigarette to go. Plus they're so expensive so I don't think they're gonna be my go to.

And the blacks were awesome. I think I need to compare them to reds and golds but they just really tasted and felt so good--they gave me a ton of buzz and went down easy. I need to try them again because I blew through that pack pretty quick over a weekend while I was celebrating being done with exams and maybe I won't like them as much under normal circumstances.

Anyway this project is on hold for a little bit because my awesome brother bought me a carton of reds for christmas and it's gonna take me a while to finish that....

Bet you'll kill that carton of Reds quicker than you think Does make a great gift. I remember buying my younger bro his first carton for his birthday, about 6 months after I found out he was a smoker. (Have to message me if you want to know which birthday it was The Marb Blacks are really good and usually a little cheaper than Reds. Have you tried any 100s yet?

Marlboro Blacks are what we used to call Marlboro Medium, so it's in between the Reds and the Golds, though I think closer to the Reds. Since they're usually cheaper than either, they're a good buy.

I hope that you knew that you're not supposed to "pack" American Spirits. The 'sky blue' pack is the full-flavor "regular." It should take about eight minutes to smoke (if you packed it first, then it'll be a few minutes longer and will have a hard draw). Way back before tobacco companies starting using expanded tobacco, all cigarettes took about as long to smoke as American Spirits do now. How can a longer smoke be a bad thing?

Remember, when you first started this thread, that I said (#8) that menthol cigarettes are easier to start on ... from what you just said, the Marlboro Menthol proved it. I never tried Marlboro Menthol. The only menthol cigarette that I can tolerate now is Newport. Everything else menthol just tastes like smoking a peppermint stick. I won't comment about Camel Crush. Try the Camel Wides, if you haven't already, after you finish the Marlboro Reds. I agree with Marbs4ever in thinking you'll go through them faster than you think.

P.S. Your getting the gift of a carton means you've been accepted into the "club."

My foster daughter recently started smoking, her mother agreed that she could start on her 16th birthday before going away for a few months. Her mother is a committed smoker, it was obvious that she had been sneaking (which solved the regulars vs. menthols question). My suggestion to her, contrary to what she at first suggested, was to start with shorts, not longer cigarettes, and save the longer lentghs for later. Same for strength; start on ultras, and save the stronger strengths for later. And lastly, if she's going to smoke, by all means choose a premium brand, and be prepared to pay a premium price. Her first pack was Marlboro silver shorts, which she liked at first, since her mother is a Marb red 100's smoker. Towards the end of that first pack, she said she was happy with the cigarettes being ultras, as well as the taste, but shed really like to try 100s, not only because they looked more stylish, but she likes the idea of two or three extra drags with each cigarette. She commented that it seemed whenever we lit up together, her cigarette was done, and I still had a fair amount left. The next afternoon, I presented her with a pack of Marlboro Silver 100s, and a pack of Virginia Slims Silver 100s, encouraging her to bounce back and forth, and make a decision towards the end of those two packs. She couldnt decide which one; she liked the feel of the full-bodied Marbs between her lips better over the Slims, but she liked the taste of the Slims better than the Marbs. So I got her two packs of Benson & Hedges Deluxes. On the way home, she commented I think this is it!" It's been just over two months, and after trying her friend's Marlboro Gold 100's, she hinted she was ready for something stronger. So she switched to Benson & Hedges Luxurys. Which she's quite happy with. Since she was a second hand smoker all her life, I'm predicting that the Luxurys will last her until she's 18 at the latest, and she'll be ready for Benson & Hedges Premiums, or another full-flavor brand.

Also at least at my school menthols are considered more of a girl's cigarette and guys tend to smoke regular Marlboros or Camels. So I've avoided menthols so far. Do most people consider menthols more feminine and regulars more masculine?
Don't let others' stereotype comments influence what you instinctively like. I've smoked menthol cigarettes for decades, principally Salems, and have heard all the crap about "candy sticks" or whatever. I love menthols and credit them for making me a long-term smoker.
