I previously smoked Camel Turkish Royals and Marlboro Southern Cuts and Reds, but the rising cost of Marlboro and Camel and limited availability of Turkish Royals in my local stores caused me to look at other brands. These have a weak kick, but are super smooth with a slow burn time; the price for a pack in my home of Virginia is no more than $4.50, and I have seen then for as low as $3.90 in places like Sheetz and Wawa. Winston White 100's are a high quality and additive-free cigarette with a near value-brand price.

First of all let me say that I can definitely tell the difference between a chemical filled cigarette and an additive free cigarette. I much prefer added to free cigarettes although some cigarettes that are not additive free are still very good. Now the first time I ever tried Winstons was from a buddy and he got them in the light 100 variety because that's what Kurt Cobain used to smoke. I instantly thought wow the states really clean for an additive filled cigarette. Then I found out that they actually are additive free and instantly bought the Reds. Before I say anymore about Winstons, let me tell you that I have been a natural American spirit smoker ever since I first tried one. I smoke the light blue pack almost every day although on occasions I like to treat myself with the black pack ( The Periques were just a little too rich to be a daily for me) Now on to the Winston reds I bought. I thought they were amazing. Very clean and sting tastting without the chemical crap. Reminded me of a sweet American Spirit. kind of like how a camel tastes compared to a marb. red only winstons taste a lot closer to spirits than reds do to camel. The winstons Reds were also one of the harshest full flavored cigarettes I ever tried. However most cigarettes to me, even for flavors, feel like puffing on air so this was a huge plus for me. I'd say that the burn time was more than average but still nothing compared to an American Spirit. The buzz on these also seemed better than average but still not an even close to an American spirit ,(but those things are like Rediculously high in nicotine so I'm not surprised LOL). Anyway since I first tried them I've bought that many times but only here and there. I still like the burn length and strength of spirit. American spirits in my area where I get them all the time or 7.25 a pack ( that may seem super expensive but with the quality of tobacco and burn length I can usually smoke half on a work break so it's almost like I'm getting 40 cigarettes per pack LOL). I haven't gotten Winstons in quite a while and today at my work (a gas station) I decided to do a price check on these to see how much they cost exactly. I don't know why but for some reason I was thinking that these always cost around 6.50 a pack which is why I don't smoke them too often. I've always thought that for only $.50-$.75 more I might as well just get American spirits and have A cigarette the burns twice as long. Well I found out that Winstons were only $5.60 with tax. I tell you all of this because when I found out the price my jaw hit the floor. For The price of these it makes it a much better value than an American Spirit at almost 2 dollars cheaper I can get a cigarette that still has that additive free , clean taste but also a sweeter taste compared to the more dry, earthy taste from an American Spirit. That's not to say that I don't like American spirits, I fucking love them, but I've preferred the taste of a Winston I just thought that it was a better value to get American spirits. Well after today Winston Reds are going to be my new regular. Also I hate it when people smoke added to free cigarettes and say they have no flavor, they taste dry, they taste like crap, they taste like just burning paper, or whatever other crap they say about it. I could not believe that people are so accustomed to that additive, filler, chemical shit taste that they actually prefer it over and addItive cigarette. Now there are a few additive filled cigarettes that I really like such as camel filters and Wides, camel Turkish royals, Parliament lights with their kind of bittery, tangy taste ( The full flavors though I have too much of this flavor. Ithe lights hav a flavor that is like adding a little bit of salt to your food to make it good but the full flavors are like if you dump the whole jar of salt on your food), kamel reds just to name a few but I can see still tell that the quality of your tobacco with nothing else inside of the cigarette is a much higher quality smoke. As if this review wasn't long enough and or had too many food related metaphors smoking something like a Marlboro red is like eating Burger King and then smoking in American Spirit oral Winston is like eating Kobe beef. It just baffles my mind that people could actually prefer the Burger King a.k.a. the chemical filled crap cigarettes. I mean I guess if you're used to that taste, and think that's what a cigarette should taste like then maybe but I still don't get how you can't taste the cleanliness of the pure whole leaf tobacco versus the chemical filled shit If anyone actually wants to do this I highly recommend that you Buy a pack of Marbro reds and then buy a pack of Winston reds and you immediately tell the difference. The "lack of taste" that you might think the Winstons have is actually what tobacco taste like and the " flavor" of the Reds is actually all that chemical garbage. So basically I think Winston's are a slightly sweet version of American spirits for almost 2 dollars a pack alas that burn slightly faster. If you are an American Spirit smoker I highly suggest you try these and if you're not then please try these if you haven't and do so with an open mind. Try and understand that just because they may seem to lack on flavor doesn't mean that they are garbage or have no flavor, or taste like hi t carpet or whatever. Sometimes you might prefer 100% apple juice over some sugar chemical crappy filled Pepsi. it's the same difference. If you got through all of this thank you very much

Winston used to be big, top-rated cigarette in US in the late 60s to early 70s. Somewhere along the line they lost their quality. I was unimpressed. Very weak cigarette to me. Bad chemical taste, very flat compared to Marlboro Reds or Camels. Bad smell and after taste too. For filters, I'd go with Marlboro Reds or Camels over these.

Winstons are nothing to write home about, but they are a misunderstood brand the way I see it. Most people I know never even consider buying Winstons because, from what I see, they seem like a cheap immitation of Marlboros. They are so far from it. Once I started smoking Winns I felt like I'd finally 'got it' and it made sense why this family-man type of cig has lasted all these years. They taste great. That's the main point, but not the only one. They don't hurt my lungs or during drags and it almost tastes better on the exhale. They don't burn too quickly (they're about the same as Marlboros) and there's a variety of styles they offer. More straightforward than Marlboro's encyclopedia sized number of blends and varieties. And even more novelty - The Winston hard packs now have a "soft pack style" tab you can remove and slide squares out of that way also! Their price is moderate for my budget, but I'm never bummed about it after taking that first drag off of one.

A nice medium-grade cigarette with a good taste (like the slogan says, "Winston tastes good like a cigarette should"). These are pretty nice but I wouldn't smoke them daily as I prefer the Reds.

This is a very low key cigarette. Moderate taste with a fairly nice buzz and throat hit. Kind of like a cheaper, milder American Spirit. My favorite thing is the hard box with the soft pack thing. They burn slowly and for the cheap price theyre worth the money but idk if you would want to buy these day in day out. Its all a matter of preference but if you like NAS smokes but don't want to pay the price for organic tobacco these come recommended. 3/5 stars
