These are some of the most unique...and uniquely enjoyable nonfilter cigarettes I have ever encountered. A fascinating tobacco blend for certain. I've smoked a handful of machine-made cigarettes and RYO blends comprised entirely of flue cured Brightleaf tobacco like these but nothing else is quite the same. These are truly a satisfying smoke. Its my understanding that American Spirit tobacco in general is very high in the form of nicotine which vaporizes readily rather than being delivered as part of the particulate matter in the smoke matrix and its very noticeable with these. My theory is this relationship is the result of careful leaf-priming selection on the part of the folks who purchase the cured tobacco for SFNTC. Regardless, these are stellar cigarettes I would recommend them to anyone who likes a good, strong nonfilter smoke.

Great smoke. Better than Lucky Strike, not as good as Camel or Pall Mall. They have a longer size similar to Pall Malls, which I like. Seems to make for a mellower draw. They're pretty steep, a little over 5 bucks, but worth it. VERY addictive. I smoke them like cigars, sometimes inhale sometimes not. Supposedly additive-free. Not sure how this affects taste, but they still aren't as good as Pall Mall nonfilters to me.

American Spirit smokers may or may not appreciate this cigarette. These non-filters are a whole different ball game when it comes to intensity and flavor. The good thing about Spirits are the burn times which are incredibly long. Because it is a king size non-filter and spirits are packed so tightly with natural tobacco, the draw is somewhat weak. The good thing about a weak draw is the intensity of the cigarette itself-- extremely powerful. One of the strongest cigarettes you can smoke on the US market according to FDA numbers (pushing 30mg of tar and 3mg of nicotine PER cigarette). The flavor itself is extremely robust and powerful. It is not like a Lucky Strike, Pall Mall, or Camel non-filter. If you want a very strong cigarette and like non-filters, this may be the way to go.

After searching high and low for these cigs, they have finally appeared at a store in my area! Thanks to my uncle, I've been a lifelong filterless smoker. First Luckies as a kid (because I could steal them from my uncle!), then Camels for years...until now :) I hate filtered cigs and can barely inhale through them as I do what they call direct inhale (just wrap your lips around the cig and breathe in), but have tried AS filters before. They were awful, and even ripping off the filter didn't help much. Hate me all you want, but it was just never a good smoke. So I was skeptical BUT very eager to try a filterless selection from AS. When I do handroll (rarely!), it is AS loose leaf, so I had high hopes. First I was struck by the length...wow, someone finally read the minds of all of us filterless smokers and put out a product that will last longer than 3 minutes! I opened the pack and was greeted by a nice aroma and astonished by the length. Light up, first few drags...not what I expected. Very very smooth, like a Lucky, and strong but not in the same way a Camel is. Hard to describe. A true, classic, tobacco taste, reminding me of the real old west (not the fake chemical-laded old west image of disgusting Marlboros!), horses and leather, tough handsome guys, and long days on the trail....while at the same time just feeling so CLASSIC and CLASSY. This is a cigarette that John Wayne OR Marilyn Monroe could have smoked! I swear I can smoke these down furthur than any other brand without burning my lips or fingers. More for my money is fine by me :) Average burn time, not as long as I had hoped, but truly a pleasurable experience. Sadly I have to finish off 3 more cartons of Camels before I can justify the expense of switching to AS, but it's a switch I plan to make. I figure I should be done with those Camels within 2 weeks (I smoke around 2-3 packs a day...I own a dance studio so I am my own boss and make my own frequent smoke breaks!) and already have plans in place to order a few cartons of AS filterless online from a discounter. In the meantime, I am very very pleased with this product and will no doubt buy a pack once in a while from now until I am out of Camels. Four out of five stars overall...not THE perfect smoke, but the best factory-rolled experience I have ever had!

I heard a rumor that these cigarettes had the most nicotine of any cigarette on the market. I don't know if that's true or not, but they are very strong. However, as American Spirit cigarettes are additive-free, there is no freebase nicotine, just tobacco nicotine. The buzz doesn't hit you until after you've smoked it. Freebase nicotine is what gives you the buzz as you smoke. I was dissappointed while smoking them, almost sick afterwards. Taste was innofensive, not overly powerful. Expensive and hard to find. A fine smoke, but not what i'm used to.

Have been smoking AS non-filts for about a year now. It's hard to tell for sure but I wonder if (as with most all cigs) they may have undergone a quality downgrade. Where, before, they were tightly packed and the tobacco used to be long-cut and stringy, giving the impression of being a bit moist, it now seems short-cut and crumbly with a drier effect. Also a less tight smoke seems to be what has forced AS to go to BOX ONLY. Other brands have done this - or at least - have highly promoted the box over the soft pack. You wouldn't want to package a loose smoke in a softpack it seems to me. Am I just suspicious? I now get dry crumbs on my tongue whereas before I'd get a very rare long string it any at all. The darkened burn line on the paper used to be just a line, slow burning, and would go out if you left it alone. Now there's more air inside to keep it burning and moving widely up the cigarette. This is very irritating and truly a letdown. Even still, in comparison, probably the best deal, that is if its still possible to get 2 servings of one stick.

These cigarettes were ones I wanted to try for years. For being a person who likes Lucky Strike unfiltered cigarettes, these were ones always on my mind. They were a bit on the pricey side and they weren't that good for what you're paying for. I actually was really disappointed. I felt they were too strong and not flavorful enough.

Best non-filter I've tried, although I do remember Gaulois/Gitane, which had very unusual tasty tobacco, as though they contained latakia black tobacco. My suggestion for something equally good is Nobel Petits, made in Denmark from S. American tobacco. Cigarette sized, maduro or natural. The maduro (Brazil) is very tasty. 20 to a pack, about $10 over internet. If they were cheaper, I'd buy them exclusively; they make AS N-F taste bland, even when the AS is the best traditional non-filter cigarette you can buy (there's still that Gaulois; but I also recall them being a bit too strong because harsh).

These are great. I love the taste and kick of a non-filtered cig but Camels or Lucky's get too harsh. These are not harsh at all. They go down as smooth or smoother than Marlboro Reds. They are just smooth and delicious. You still have to pick tobacco off your lips, which is annoying but if you want a strong smoke, give these a try.

The only unfiltered smoke I've had, and I'm a light smoker. Good taste, but it's too much for me as a cigarette. I can't finish one, but it doesn't hurt anyone to put it out half-way.

Good cigarette, just picked up a pack today and tried a few. Strong as hell. Taste is awesome because there is no chemical taste to them. Overall, I would recommend these as an occasional smoke. Cheaper than most high class unfiltered smokes (Camel, Pall Mall, Lucky Strike). I like them a lot.

I've made this claim a few times, and I hope this is the last, but this could be my full-time cigarette -- the cigarette I devote myself to. These cigarettes hit just about every checkmark on what an unfiltered cigarette, nay, all cigarettes, should be. They're as long as a normal king sized cigarette, which is one way Lucky Strike tends to "strike" out in my game, and they burn nice and slow. Because these smokes are all natural, they taste very robust and pure. They're as smooth as silk -- deadly smooth. Any other cigarette tastes almost like a menthol after smoking one of these, because you really notice the chemicals. If you prefer old-fashioned unfiltered tobacco and a company who specializes in growing premium tobacco, this is the cigarette for you.

I only smoke non-filters and I can find none better. They are very tight and I usually smoke no more than 1/2. The Luckys are a good standby but too stubby for me. It's important to get a fresh pack - give the pack a squeeze and if it feels crispy, give it back!

Anyone smoking a non-filter cigarette won't find a better one. I am a non-filter smoker and since I found American Spirit non-filters a few months ago and haven't looked back. They are packed tight, taste great and are totally satisfying. Anyone looking for "everything a cigarette should be" doesn't have to look any further.

If you are going to smoke unfiltered, I would highly recommend these. They have a satisfyingly strong taste, very full bodied and well rounded with a strong flavour of smoked hickory with oaky overtones. These cigarettes also are packed well to give a harder pull and, since there is no filter, the tobacco doesn't fall into the mouth (this is a serious problem for many unfiltered cigarettes out there as it ruins the smoking experience).
