Default Placing a ban on flavored cigarettes?

Hey guys, I found this article that you guys might find interesting. Apparently, our government wants to place a ban on "flavored" cigarettes.

pajoyner.blogspot.com/2008/05/cigarette-ban-bill-exempts-menthol.html

That's the link right there. Apparently, the ban includes cigs like clove, mocha, and cinnamon. The FDA thinks that these cigs are is what is hooking children into becoming smokers. I personally hope that this never happens, I would hate to never be able to smoke a Djarum or a Nat Sherman again!!

Why does it take the government so long to act on things. Its been five years since the big "scare" about flavored 'bidis' from India getting into the hands of underage smokers. That was all settled when all the mom and pop online retailers were shut down. Don't the government know that taxes that they levy on tobacco is paying for their big spending habits? Why does everything the government does have to be done in a roughshod manner like the way they handled the Katrina disaster? Doesn't anyone running government have any common sense at all?

Screw the FDA. They're probably a bunch of non/anti-smokers anyway. We don't need non-smokers to make the rules for smokers. Stupid. When esmokes closed up a few years ago, I bought Grape flavored Bidis at super going out of business prices. They were so cool. I forget what brand they were but, they came in little cone-shaped packages and the cigs were basically just "hand-rolled" smokes that looked like "joints". They did give quite a head rush too. They were really popular in the teen-age raves. This crap with the FDA is just an example of what cooldude says with the government being out of touch with the current reality.

When will the politicians stop using kids as an excuse to push their "nanny" laws on all of us smokers? And especially the push to get rid of online retailers? Kids aren't getting smokes online. Most can just walk into any old convenience store and get them, or get an older friend to buy them. Seems like online sales would be the best way to stop kids from getting smokes and remove the tobacco from the brick and mortar stores instead. It's a zany world and Washington is so out of touch with reality. Obama is gonna have his hands full....

i don't mind forcing them not to use "candy" colors or things that would be appealing to a child's eye...i'd still want the flavor, but nothing catchy in the presentation, it still looks like a regular cigarette without funky colors. These guys have to get us when we're young, otherwise, we'd never smoke once we got older...i wouldn't, would you? don't get me wrong, i love cigarettes, but i also know i'm addicted.

No way, you Chose to begin smoking. These foul anti groups want to take your right to choose where you get your cigs, your right to choose to smoke, your right to eat french fries and any other right they can wrestle away from you. They get paid big bucks to have their false campaigns funded by big drug companies, corrupt politicians (Eliot Spitzer) and State tax revenue officials. Anti groups are the enemy.

If you are addicted, then try quitting. Take up the E-cig, nicotine patch, One Step at a time filtering system, cold turkey or a support group but, don't just give up and let your rights get run over and trampled on by people that have false agendas.

If anyone gives into anti pressure from antis and the govt to quit smoking, that's what they wanna see happen. But I ain't gonna let Big Daddy dictate my life. If they ban menthol cigs, no problem. I'll just look into making my owm menthols if I have to.

The cigs that you see in your neighborhood store ain't the only cigs available in this nation, that's for sure.

I'm gonna keep smokin til the day I die.
