Is there a legal age to smoke ?

hey i was wondering is there a smoking age to smoke or just buy?

It depends on the state. In general smoking underage isn't legal but isn't treated like a criminal offense or enforced strictly except in some states like florida and virginia. I heard the policy had mixed effects by making kids more defiant, it used to be that age limits weren't enforced strictly and some states essentially let you buy tobacco younger. In the Mid 90s they changed that and youth smoking rates rose. That and the states use their MSA money for other things rather than smoking prevention and quitting support. It's actually written in to the agreement that if less cigs are sold then the states get less money which is happening right now.

shit.... i was wondering cuz i read somewhere that there was no age saying u can and other saying u culd get fined and some shit and the worse part is i live in virginia and am underage ... but my parents know i smoke .. they jus wont get me any .. well thanx abunch

You gotta be 18 to buy cigs in my state of IL. But it ain't illegal for someone under 18 to have possession of cigs by me. Go figure.

Is there a legal age to smoke cigarettes in Texas?

I'm hearing so much things on the internet. Some say you get in trouble for possession of Tobacco underage some say you just have to be 18 to BUY cigs but no legal age to SMOKE them. Is there some law book i can read lol. Does anyone here know for sure if theres a legal age or not for that?

In the United Kingdom the purchasing age is 18 but it is legal to smoke at any age.

"A child/young person of any age can smoke although under sixteen year olds can have their tobacco confiscated by police (or indeed a park keeper in uniform) if they are found smoking in any street or public place [s.7 Children & Young Persons Act 1933]."

I think it is good to smoke at any age and there should be no restrictions on young smokers.

I think there is no age bound for smoking cigarettes..i saw peolpes smoking cigarettes in the age of 101....."last month i read a news about a lady smoking cigarette aged over 100".
