Exclamation Urgent!!! Say no to s-1147! Do it asap!

URGENT!

Right now there is legislation pending in the US Senate - the Prevent All Cigarette Trafficking Act of 2009 ("PACT Act") (S. 1147) which contains, among other bad ideas, a provision to make all cigarettes and smokeless tobacco nonmailable. That means none of us will ever be able to get any tobacco products online again!

Go to the CigReviews homepage and click on "Cigarette Links" and follow the instructions on how to tell your state senators to vote NO to the PACT ACT! We defeated it 3 times previously and can do it again if we all pitch in and help.

Click the link under "Cigarette Links" on the CigReviews Homepage. Thank you for your help!

I was not able to get a hold of the office. What a fucking joke. The Socialist movement is now in full swing.

My email sent to MA Senator John Kerry.

You probably won't even read this, since all of you politicians are as two faced as possible, but it is worth a try. There are a few reasons why this bill should never had made it to Washington, I am sure you greedy liberal fucks made sure it found its way there.

COST: When the PACT Act of 2003 (S.1177) passed the Senate, the Congressional Budget Office
prepared a Cost Estimate for the Bill. The Congressional Budget Office estimated that the PACT Act
of 2003 would cost about $140 MILLION over the 2004-2008 period to enforce. $140 Million over
four years - and that estimate is already six years old. How much will the PACT Act of 2009 cost
to enforce? Isn’t there a better way to spend our tax dollars?

THE POSTAL SERVICE: The price of stamps is being raised practically every year. The PACT
Act will take an entire class of legal, non-hazardous goods and make them nonmailable. What this
means is a huge loss of business (potentially hundreds of millions of dollars) for the Postal Service.
Will they continue to raise the price of stamps and other mail services to compensate for their lost
income? The United States Postal Service is already suffering a fiscal crisis due to the downturn
in the economy. If the PACT Act is passed and millions of dollars of revenue are taken away, there
could be serious consequences for consumers, including reducing the number of delivery days
from 6 per week down to 5 or perhaps only 4 days per week.

Is this what our great country is coming to? The government is now regulating the postal service to drive up taxes even further? As I am sure you know, taxes on tobacco products have raised the price of cigarettes to an alarming $8.00 per pack. Now it is the Senates goal to make us suffer even further?

You were elected to SERVE US, not the other way around. Take heed and VOTE NO to the PACT Act

just to add, when the bill says "non mailable" I assume that may mean not handled by the U.S. postal service at all. I am guessing I couldn't just order a carton or two and pick it up somewhere or am I wrong?

What about UPS, DHL or FedEx? Also how are stores supposed to get a hold of tobacco products to sell in retail locations? They must be delivered somehow.

Exclamation Urgent Action Needed - Stop S.1147

Delivery from UPS, DHL and FedEx of tobacco products is already illegal. It's been illegal for 2 years now. If this bill S.1147 passes in the US Senate, you will never get tobacco from the internet ever again! If you would like to help stop this from happening, go to the cigreviews home page, click "cigarette links" from the left navigation bar and follow the instructions under "Urgent Action Needed".

When cigs get delivered to offline stores and gas stations, the USPS doesn't deliver cartons. Trucks deliver cig cartons just like how trucks deliver food and drinks to supermarkets.

I actually heard of a truck delivering cases of cigs getting hijacked on the road in recent months.

Not being able to buy cigs online anymore also means you can't smoke cheap brands anymore too. You'll be able to buy overpriced, big-name (and FSC) brands offline only.

everyone is looking to cigarettes to pay for their fiscal irresponsibility, hold on folks, they'll start taxing the fat, the thin, the tall, the short and a partridge in a pear tree because when politicians are broke, they don't care who they screw....call or write your congressman and stop taxation without representation!!!!

A small update. At least I know the Senators can place their votes as early as September 8th.

From an email I received from a smoke shop:

***********************
Here's the closest thang to an update I've seen on the PACT Act topic. The Senate is currently on break. But according to an email I received from a smoke shop, the Senators could place their votes as early as September 8th.

************************

Even though the Senate is currently on a break (they seem to take a lot of those), it doesn't mean your freedom and ability to order and receive cigarettes and tobacco products through the mail is safe and secure.

The Prevent All Cigarette Trafficking Act of 2009 ("PACT Act") (S.1147) is still pending, and could be sent to the full Senate for a vote as soon as they return. This legislation contains, among other bad ideas, a provision which will make ALL cigarettes and smokeless tobacco products nonmailable. This bill has already been passed by the House of Representatives and is currently before the Senate Judiciary Committee, who could send it to the Senate floor for a vote as early as September 8th!

By making all cigarettes and smokeless tobacco products nonmailable, this law will ensure you will no longer be able to purchase these products by mail-order, telephone order, or on the Internet, because the United States Postal Service, along with UPS, Fed-Ex and all other carriers will be prohibited by law from delivering your orders to you. Taking away your options means forcing you back to buying over-priced tobacco products from your local retailer once again. Let your Senators know that you don't want this!

The Senate may be at rest, but we must continue to remain active if we wish to preserve our rights and freedoms. Contact your Senators office today and tell them to vote NO on S.1147, the "PACT Act"!

There is no way that the greedy idiots in D.C> would consider doing the right thing!
