There is no way that the greedy idiots in D.C> would consider doing the right thing!
It's been passed to the Senate Judiciary Committee. There is 19 people on there that all need to get bombed with handwritten letters, emails and phone calls in opposition to the bill. Most bills don't get out of committee and we all better pray this one don't either or else it's curtains for home and office delivery of tobacco products. And that's only the first step in the government putting total control on e-commerce in general. See trackback link below and follow the instructions if you would like to participate in the political process and voice your opposition to S.1147

I forgot to mention I spoke with our USPS mail lady and informed her of the situation. She is not a smoker but when I told her of the volume of packages this industry is dumping USPS as far as box volume she was more than all ears to hear how it would be lost. She accepted a letter I wrote up about the bill and promised she would talk with her supervisor along with sticking it in the mail room. The USPS is a large entity who is in trouble and can no longer afford a large reduction in mail packages. TALK WITH YOU MAILMAN ASAP....THIS COULD BE HIS/HER JOB WE TALKING ABOUT AND THEY KNOW IT ONCE YOU EXPLAIN THE SITUATION!

Cool Senate Judiciary Business of SD-226 concerning the PACT Act of 2009

Google SD-226 to see the work schedule for the US Senate Judiciary Committee on November 5 (today) at 10am. This is where the PACT Act of 2009 will either live and go on to the senate for a vote or it will die there as 3 previous attempts have died in committee. People need to call the 19 senators on that committee TODAY to raise their objections to this bill. Do nothing and suffer. Call the Capitol switchboard today and ask to be connected to your state senators' office and voice your opinion. Go to the home page of CigReviews, click cigarette links, click "Stop S.1147" and follow the instructions. Do it today. If you have already done it, do it again.

Emailing these senators does absolutely nothing since they do not read the emails. All these senators have armies of support personnel that intercept the emails and these same support workers many times have their own anti-smoker agendas. Hand written letters have the most pronounced effect but as of this writing, time has almost run out. Only a phone call to the capitol switchboard and requesting to be connected to your state senator will do any good at this point. You have the right still to voice your opinion. Be a part of the political process. If you do nothing, you will suffer for it when this bill passes. Do it today.

The vote is scheduled for Nov. 19th. I got at least 2 emalls from 2 smoke shops today. As much as I'd like to share them on here, they include URLs.

But if you basically google "Jay's Smokers Rights Blog," you can read one of the emails (in full detail) on there.

Thumbs down

I just ordered 10 lbs of "the Good Stuff" from SmokersOutletOnline (enough to make about 50 cartons) and 50 boxes of tubes. If Anthony Weiner (guy that introduced the Pact Act of 2009) got run over by a truck, I don't think anyone would miss him much. This jerk thinks he has a shot at the presidency in 2012.

Don't forget to blow their fax machines up with this list. I have a magicjack and each night when I go to sleep I am sure to fax it to a complete list of Senate and House Members. Anyone can avoid an e-mail or a phone call but no one can deny my 20 page fax each night. Worst case scenario is at least a janitor will see it and tell his friends. They work for us! Make them at least move our complaints away from their fax machine!

Can you post the list of fax numbers here for the state of Florida senators? The petition is up to 1,609 signatures. I would love to fax this list in to them everyday. I have been adding email addresses to the tell a friend part of the petition site from a database of smokers. Tomorrow, I plan on entering hundreds of them. I would really like to see the petition grow to 15,000 sooner than later. Made a post on the Postal Employees Network and another post on Glenn Beck website. Tried to call Rush Limbaugh with no luck yet.

Trust me, make this into a list and store it in a fax software program for future use. I am using an old fax program so I can't export it but.....it is nice to have once you do get it plugged in. MAKE THEIR MACHINES HEAR OUR CAUSE!
