I just want him to read the bills before he signs them. It's a joke that laws get enacted without the bills being read first. Its also a joke that they enact so many laws that hurt people and the joke is on us smokers again with that HR5912 thats got another bill name assigned to it now.

2002: Obama Supported Increase In Cigarette Tax - SJR reported, "Sen. At present, the cigarette tax is 58 cents a pack. Most brands now cost $3 to $5 a pack. According to Obama, bidi cigarettes, which come in bright-colored, cone-shaped packages of 20 costing $2.50 a pack, are targeted to young people primarily because they resemble marijuana 'joints' that are wrapped in a nonporous, brownish leaf and come in various flavors he says appeal to teens and those in their 20's. I voted for Obama for political reform reasons. This SCHIP has been in the offing for awhile though, and we smokers are "fair game". Politics is politics though, and as Parker's story said "pigs is pigs", and see where that got someone. So, if we smokers are "pigs" needing to be taxed will we "multiply" to fill the need? Will we be taxed out of our habit? Or do we find alternative sources (as we've been doing, leading to more cries of hunting down the "tax deadbeats" for collection)?


In NYS, collected tobacco tax is a joke, a free floating fund that can be dipped into at will for a politician's pet (get re-elected) project. At least with the SCHIP there's a "definite" purpose.
Haven't found out if Native Americans are exempt from SCHIP yet, but you can read about the bill on native times dot com - Native American Times' Home page.

Anti-smoking or pro-smoking? To fund this project the feds will need about 22 million more new smokers!

Here we are just 46 months left before we get another for sure chance to get rid of Obama. I DIDN'T vote for him because I'm a moderate Republican leaning towards the right. Mr Bush lost all of what he had before his 1st term was over. The whole time Bush was losin' it, Obama really proved his hypocrisy with his record on Tobacco Control. Thanks Jay for posting that story above. I re-posted it in MySpace and Facebook. People seemed to suffer from "Obamacide" in the last election and they deserve whatever bad they get from Obama. NONE of that money that is going to be taken from us smokers in the form of giant increased taxes, will ever make it to SCHIP coffers IMHO. It will most probably go to Federal Employees Pay Raises and bonus's for AIG and the rest of the rich folks.

I still send one e-mail every single day about schip taxes and the unfairness to the RYO tobacco industry alone but luckily for Obama his auto response bot has sent the same generic response back each and every time about how it is our "duty and obligation" to pay for kids (including illegals) health care. Not being greedy but I don't have kids but pay for their health insurance along with public education. When is the revolt starting?
