I remember flying in the mid 90's to Europe and people could light up in the rear of the plane. It never bothered anyone! Try it now and you'd probably get arrested.

I remember when you could smoke virtually anywhere.

^^ Now that's freedom!^^ A few years ago here in IL they even banned smoking in bars and restaurants. The smoking/non smoking section system worked well for so many years yet suddenly they felt the need to completely ban it.

Don't even get me started on the bar ban BS. Are there any states left that still allow it?

You could still smoke on some intercontinental European flights a few years ago. Europe felt strange, especially being able to smoke cigarettes almost anywhere, but now I've heard the anti-smoking Nazis have been taking over Europe. I'm sure Eastern Europe is OK. They are very libertarian over there and communist oppression is still fresh in the minds of many. I wouldn't think they'd allow the socialist commies to start removing personal freedoms.

I was suprised because we went into a restaurant in Mississippi and you could smoke in those places and it was just 2months ago . It wasn't in the gambling counties either..... It's ONE of the last places I know of !!!!!

That's why it's weird that I'm back in the states because I've been in japan for the last 4 years and you csn virtually smoke anywhere even places that say no smoking. The japanese even have the taspo system so you can buy cigarettes and beer from vending machines.

I live in North Dakota and you can still smoke in bars and restaurants here. Mainly thats only in the small towns, most of the bigger cities in North Dakota have passed laws to ban it in restaurants and in some cities they've tried to pass a ban on smoking in bars. The owner of the bar I frequent has said he'll close his doors if they ever ban smoking in our town.
