If adding carpet glue to cigarettes and making millions sick in order to save a handful of people from burning themselves up isn't selfish, I don't know what is.

I agree tobacco should be illegal based on how anti this society is towards smoking. But if they make tobacco illegal, then you might see a Big Mac costing as much as 10 bucks, to make up for the fact the govt couldn't collect money off of smokers anymore.

I guess the only tobacco that WOULD be illegal are the big name brands...those are the brands the govt lives off of in terms of sales. Not Native brands or tobacco used to make your own.
You are so right' all these organizations are corrupt' just a bunch of thieves
that steal our tax dollars.

I have a twin sister who doesn't smoke and cigarette smoke makes her sick at times and as long as I'm not blowing smoke in her face then she could care less. Like I wouldn't walk up to her and start smoking but she's smart enough not to come up to me while I'm smoking.

Default Tobacco is for suckers

The writer of this article doesn't even mention anything bad about tobacco, it's like cigarette smokers are victims, sniffle sniffle

I smoked for years, and quit 5 years ago. If giving a crap about my health is as selfish as the writer thinks, then you're dam right I'm selfish.

Along this same line is the "personal" issues. I would be interested in your thoughts and feedback on the following:
My husband and I have smoked for 50 + years.
I believe there are people who smoke and then there are "smokers".
We are both smokers.
Since the anti-smoking business strated we have worked to not offend anyone with our smoking. I have "Air Sponges" in all the rooms, use smokeless ashtrays if we smoke in the house, run several fans to keep the air moving, have ionic filters, etc., etc., but it never seems to ge enough?
We are in our 60's and 70's now. Family and friends (non-smokers) have taken to not coming to the house because of the cigarette smoke.
A couple of people became aggressive about you cannot excpet us to come over, blah, blah. I told them we try to be considerate, but if it is just too unpleasant they should not come, but if the do come I do not want to spend all the time discussing thier dislike for smoke.
How have you folks handled this?

Angry

Non-smoking friends and relatives do not come to visit me for more than a few minutes at a time because of the freaking "wreaking" odor of tobacco in my house. Most just stand outside my door or I walk outside with them to converse. I have smoke odor eliminator sprays and candles but still nobody that don't smoke, wants to be in my house or near me. I had a "pizza party" for my birthday where I prepared all the pizzas and everybody including the non-smokers showed up for that. I guess the smell of pepperoni outdoes the smell of years of tobacco smoke. heh heh

In public, I generally do what I want. If I want to smoke in a grocery store, I just do it! I check my po box every couple of days and I ALWAYS enter the post office with a lit cigarette. Everywhere that there is a smoking ban, I will light up and either ignore requests to extinguish my cigarette or I will start an altercation with you. If you are not the smoke police, you deserve to get your butt kicked anyway for all the crud you and your anti-smoker kind have put me and my smoking friends' through in the last several years. I can get away with such things mostly because I am 6'4", 249 lbs and a bit scary looking. I ride a Harley XL1200C (2004) and I'm always wearing a Harley shirt. Even if I wasn't all that, I'm sure I would still turn my nose up at no smoking rules everywhere. I choose to use a legal product so, make tobacco illegal across the board or be quiet about me smoking.
