I know, right? My question is: what about the fast food industry or something? All of these health freaks bitch about smoking is bad for your health- I'd say eating all of this fast food is just as bad. I say next, we try and ban Burger King, Mcdonalds, Taco bell, etc. for making Americans fat and obese? First, we should tax the shit out of it to make people pay more though. |

If it's a public spot it's like public, duh! and for everyone not just the select click that enjoys your smoke... ponder this: if i were to stroll up to where you're sitting and just scream on the top of my lungs in your ear... would that be okey!? I am polluting the air too... ;-) You go somewhere else and smoke your cigarette and then come back! //Andy |

| At the meantime, Simon Clark, director of Forest (Freedom Organization for the Right to Enjoy Smoking Tobacco), proved that cases of asthma had been rising as the number of smokers had fallen. I think that the same situation is with cancer cases as well. The smoking problem is so overstated just because they want to make high revenues from cigarette taxes. YOu are asking who is truly selfish - the SMOKERS OR THE ANTI-SMOKERS...just try to analyze - they banned smoking in the public places, bars; they are going to ban smoking in all kinds of vehicles, they increase taxes for cigarettes tremendously. And show me at least one person who died from second-hand smoking harm!!!! These evidences show that the answer is obvious. |

| I've been smoking for 25 years. Individual non-smokers and ex-smokers no longer bother me. The lobby against smoking does bother me quite a bit. The way I look at it, "It is MY right to still smoke outside (the only place where smoking is still allowed)" Outside a suite at the Indy 500, there were about 3 people out of 50 that smoked. I stood outside, lit up my cigarette, and dared anyone to tell me to put it out. After about 20 people went inside the suite I asked the man next to me if he wanted to light up a cigar so we could have a better view of the cars, ie more people would leave. No one yet has the nerve to ask me to put it out and if anyone ever does I have a response ready, "Can you still smoke outside? Or have you outlawed that too?" |

| where there is a ban everywhere here and it is 0 degrees or colder approx. 7 months out of the year and you have to go outside to have a cigarette...AND, of course, as people come towards the bar entrance they immediately complain about the smell. HELLO, I am freezing to death because of these kinds of "selfish" people. I was lucky enough to have lived in a state that did not have a ban up until last year before moving to the tundra THEN there is the HUGE tax (we all know who is responsible for that...the NON-smokers) in the bars and cigs are up to $9 a pack at bars since they need to be able to have a tobacco license and can't make money if they don't charge that much apparently. Anyway, SMOKE ON fellow smokers and don't be afraid to blow smoke directly into the faces of the "selfish" ones who, in 1 generation, have decided we are outcasts of society Last edited by parliamentsrock; 09-27-2010 at 02:05 PM. | I agree. The UK however, has it good compared to alot of US states such as Cali. LA has notoriously poor air quality and people moan about fag smoke. Get a grip I say. I was once sat in a cafe bar, on the Gloucester Rd, a busy A Road with huge amounts of pollution. There were two young middle class girls both with small children. I lit a cigarette and they came over to me and said 'You really are a nasty piece of work, my daughter was born with a collapsed lung, she can't breathe smoke from your disgusting mouth'. My response was calm 'if your daughter is in poor health because of a collapsed lung, may I suggest 3 things' 'Go on, I love listening to obnoxious smokers trying to justify their suicide' ' 1. take your child out of the smoking area, 2. Listen to the weather report, there is a pollution warning out, and it strongly reccommends that people with ailments of the respiritory system do NOT go outside, because it can irritate symptoms, 3. If your child being exposed to dirty air bothers you, go and live on an island somewhere'. ' She stood there and looked at me for a minute and said 'there's a smog warning'? You see, people pick on smokers because they are encouraged to do so by the NHS, true think-for-yourself types draw their own conclusions, only idiots listen to the TVs opinion on everything. 30% of the UK smoke, NHS and other healthcare names try to say its less, but all independant surveys show 30-34%. 30% is not to be sniffed at, its a fair whop, 20 million people, the can't do anything more because people would just use that beautiful 2 letter exclaimation, 'no'. Think, who is crazy enough to ban smoking from beer gardens? The whole point of them these days is to provide seating for smokers. If they did this, there would be massive outcry and it would have to be U-turned. |
