I don't happen to have a Powarmagic II, but to me, it looks like a piece of douche...too many plastic parts...

...moving up from a hand stuffer to a cranky, not going this route.

Yes they suck I have an electric easy roller. The cherry falls off constantley. O won't smoke them in the house or in the car. I roll a seperate pack with my hand roller to smoke in the car and only use the ones I roll with my electric roller for smoking outdoors. They are very dangerous. I have to light my cigarette sometimes 5 times before it is done.

How do you know the difference between the older Powermatic2 and the newer one.

Regarding PowermaticII. i'm a first time roller, and it takes me 17 min. for a pack. Last week, when i got it, I was so frustrated; cherries falling all the time, voids in the smoke, machine always jamming, and tobacco spilling out. But, like anything, i'm improving with practice, and some trial and error. I found a kitchen gadget (actually an old metal grapefruit carver) that has a hollow handle. I fill the handle with tobacco just to a certain point, and that is generally the correct amt to load machine. Then I firmly tamp tobacco in with short end of a 1/4" allen wrench, which fits well in chamber. (I know instructions say to loosely fill, no undue pressure, etc. But this is what is working for me.) I do this with the machine turned off. I then press the lever to check for overfill, and adjust amt if I need to. This has resulted in far less jams (just one jam in the last 40 smokes). return lever to the 'up' position, I turn the machine on, and make a nice, uniform smoke.

I'm assuming the new ones are indicated by the "II" in the name.

Cool

I use the Premier "Supermatic" injection machine to make my own smokes out of pipe tobacco. For each cigarette that I make, I take the cigarette and slam the filter end of it down on a hard surface a couple of times to pack the tobacco inside the tube a little tighter. This effectively stops the cherry from falling off while enjoying your home made smoke.

They are the worst! You need to use a spoon injector to keep that from happening. Check out ryocigs.com for machines and the best tobacco for the money.

Default PowermaticII / diff models

hey pops,
I was re-reading this thread and your post Re: diff between Powermatic II and the new one.
I replied about a month ago or so. But, now, I think I just didn't understand your question to begin with! Are you saying that not all P II models are alike - that there was some sort of change?

If that's the case, this answers a question I've had since I got mine. I watched the demo cd that came with the machine. The cd refers to an exhaust port on the right side, and says / shows how to clean it thoroughly. Mine doesn't look like the demo, and there is no port to clean. That part of the machine on mine isn't accessible, and is just the opposite end of the injector arm (but it's closed off). When I was finally able to reach cust. support, I was basically told to ignore that...pretty sure, anyway - it was hard to understand her, (broken English).
So, I'm thinking that's one of the differences; but, I don't know if I have the older or newer model. I just know it's different from the instruction cd.

I just purchased a "Easy Roller" machine, after having a "Powermatic II for about a year! The Powermatic II has injected thousands of cigs. It is a little more complicated to use,but once you get it down,it makes nice cigs. The Easy Roller is a "no brainer" machine! It fills from the filter end,so no voids at the filter. It will drop a cherry,if you don't pack the cigarette after making it! So will the Powermatic II! I found on the Easy Roller,if I set the tension at 3,the cigarette comes off the auger a little loose. Then I pack it,tapping the filter, until firm. If I set the tension at 5 (max),I can't pack the cigarette any tighter, and it dose seem to grind the tobacco more fine causing the cherry to fall out! What I have discovered is the Powermatic II injects "Cigarette Tobacco" perfectly ($30.00) per 8 oz. bag.Pipe tobacco isn't that great in it. The Easy Roller will use either tobacco well, and if you smoke pipe tobacco (long shag cut) it will chop the tobacco as it's filling the tube,so there's no need to cut it before hand. The real reason for cigarettes dropping cherrys,is the tobacco being too loose, ground up,or having "voids" in the tube. Packing the cigaretts will go along ways towards not having the cherry's fall off! Ron
