Default General Discusson

This forum really needs a subforum where we can freely discuss issues not directly related to smoking. After all, we can't only talk about smoking all the time. If we had a place where we could discuss politics, life issues, and other subjects, I bet the forum would see a lot more activity.

This is a cig reviews forum. Not a forum to discuss politics, and I hate politics anyway. There are PLENTY of politicial forums on the net it's not funny.

I know SOME forums have "off-topic" subforums. I even believe the Smokers Club Forum has an off-topic area.

But those off-topic subforums are usually quiet, including the subtopic forum I saw on an actual smoking forum.

If there's not too much activity on here to you, you didn't take the re-launch of this site into account. I bet this forum used to be a heck of a lot more quiet til I found it 1.5 months ago. This forum seems to be more active ever since I came here.

If someone is looking for a politicial forum, you won't have no problem finding one already on the net. But the last time I checked, this is a smoking forum. And trust me, if politicians online came on here to discuss politics even in an off-topic subforum, a lotta em would be turned off by rhe MAIN topic of this forum.

I know if I found a forum dealing with say animal topics and it had an off-topic subforum, I ain't gonna waste my time registering myself to talk about smokers rights issues on their off-topic subforum. I have no interest in animal topics period. And I wouldn't blame that forum's mod telling me "Find another place to talk about smokers rights at if all you're gonna do is post about smoking on here."

Of all of the ideas I've read in this subforum so far, this one would sound funny if it was a joke. The reasoning behind having an off-topic subforum on here is a laugh in itself when I thought there WERE lots of posters on here. And more smokers are gonna eventually come now that the site has re-launched.

A boost in new members isn't gonna happen overnight. But I think a sub-forum is certainly not gonna encourage more NON-smokers to post on here. hee hee

You're right on one point though. I can't talk about smoking all of the time on the net. That's why I visit other forums (including sport forums) that I have an interest in. This forum is definitely not the only forum I post at on the net period.

Even specialty websites that are dedicated to a specific topic (for example, high-end audio, or automobiles, or video games, or whatever) nearly always have an off-topic forum. I think it is a good idea.

This is a speciality forum for the smoking topic. And I think it's safe to say just because something is a good idea to you doesn't mean the admin on here is going to apply it. I'm sure all of my ideas haven't been applied on here either. But my ideas stick to the specialty topic of this site.

If this was an automobile forum, of course I could see 1000s of people posting on here daily then. Your idea is god in the sense of attracting 1000s of new people per day. But I guess there are more smokers out here than what antis thought if 1000s of people posted on here every single day.

But the reality is since this is a smoking forum, you're not gonna see that many people post on here on a daily basis. Based on the membership activity going on here right now, I'm happy with it. And while I do expect more people to post on here over the course of the long-term, I'm not expecting 100s of new posts (let alone 100s of new members) on a daily basis.

The admin did what he had to do to attract new members....and that was doing the site relaunch.

Thanks for your suggestion! We've created a sub forum for off topics.

Enjoy!

Neat! Now I just hope that as forum traffic gradually increases, more and more people will make use of it.

I agree with Piccolo...and i'm happy to see the site admins added exactly what you asked for...CoolJay, you seem quite passionate about smoking, but given that you, like me, are a smoker that is persecuted, i think you should be more tolerant of what other people may or may not like or want on this site, it can't be only what YOU want...like your signature file says, laugh and have a smoke, and relax, don't take things so personally..if you don't want to discuss politics, don't respond to those posts...as for me, piccolo, i'm a politics buff and like to talk with people from all over the world just to see what their perspective is on things...i can tell you one thing, i can guarantee you one thing is coming, higher taxes on us smokers and our cigarettes b/c no politician ever gets thrown out of office for raising taxes on tobacco and tobacco-related products, so damn unfair! Downright Unconstitutional if you ask me, what the hell happened to equal protection!?!

Does anyone know how to contact this site? It only had birthdates starting at 1948 & I am older than that.
