Default Any guitarists out here?

Hey guys,

Just checking if we have any guitarists browsin' cigreviews. If you are, what kinda music u play? What guitar(s) u own? and whats ur fav pedal?

As for me, i'm a complete newbie in guitar. I own a Ibanez RG2EX1 .. its not that costly and sounds very nice.

I'm a Bass Player, play any music that I can play and like, and have a acoustic no name brand bass.

I want a Fender Jazz Bass though, the things are awesome and I've only ever gotten to hold one once. Hopefully one day when I have money to spend I'll get one.

I'm a musician and I play Bass guitar, guitar and Mandolin for about 37 years MOL.

I been playing bass steady since 2002 but, I've played bass on and off since 1975. I been playing guitar since 1974 (solid body electric) and I have played Mandolin since 1972. I did own a Yamaha acoustic back in '74 but, I smashed it to pieces for some stupid reason, I don't remember why.

I'm not in an active band right now so, I usually practice on the guitar and I use a "GripMaster" medium to supplement keeping my fingers ready-to-go. I practice about 4 hours a week now and I use the GM every day. The GM has little sharp perforations where the fingertips go that keeps the callouses up. Using the GM has the same effect on the hands as actually playing an instrument for a couple of hours a day does. I can even go several weeks or even months w/o playing an instument as long as I use the GM everyday for five or ten minutes and it keeps me ready to play.

I have an American made Fender Jazz Bass. I got it from "Mom's" Music store in Louisville, KY in 2002. It's a good bass but, its not the one I would like to have. Plus, I've let others use it sometimes who didn't respect it and as a result, has a nick on the neck behind the 4th fret and another up by the "G" tuning machine. Other than those nicks, it is flawless and plays real good.

The Bass gear I have is a Fender Bassman 200 Combo amp, a Fender Bassman 400 amp (component style) and a Fender 4x10 slanted speaker cabinet with emminence speakers.

I also have a Fender American Standard Telecaster guitar. The Guitar gear I have is a 1985 Crate G1500 amp w/slant 4x12 cabinet (Celestion speakers) that I purchased new from Dewey-Latta music store in Rochester, NY all those years ago. This amp kicks butt still! It is the same amp that Randy Bachman from BTO used to use. It has the "Shape Matrix" on one knob. The units they have now have the matrix split into two or maybe three knobs.

I used to have 2 G1500's and 4 4x12 cabinets but, I lost all but the one amp and cabinet back when I had the "Pawn Shop" habit. It's been a little over ten years now since I have set foot in a pawn shop. I lost so much gear doing that. I lost a "Zoid" light guitar that was worth six grand for a measley $250. The Zoid brand was rare and the one I had was serial number 0000006. The guy that used to call himself "Prince" had one, Downing and Tifton both had zoids and a few others I know of. That was a big loss. I actually replaced pawn shops with much better eBay auctions.

For effects now, I been using this cool little "Pocket Pod" made by Line 6. I've seen a lot of effects gear over the years and this little device is absolutely amazing. This tiny little unit does almost everything that a Digitech GSP-21 "Legend" signal processor can do and blows away the old Digitech RP-3 and any other effects pedal I've ever seen.

My favorite equipment of all time would be:

Gibson SG Custom Guitar w/Bigsby Tremolo Arm
Crate G1500 stack made by St. Louis Music Co.
Digitech GSP-21 Pro effects processor
Crown 4000 watt amp
Steinbrenner "Stick" Bass guitar
Gibson SG '90 with coil-tap switch and 24 frets
Gibson Les Paul Deluxe w/ Maple neck and Mahoganey rims and back
Fender American Telecaster
The original MXR Distortion+ pedal (not Dunlop version)
Roland Space Echo
Peterson Strob-o-tuner (Conn was never that good)
Cathode-ray Oscilloscope with digital signal generator
Pocket Pod by Line 6
Doctor Q - stethoscope for your guitar or bass - with this you didn't need an amplifier and it was great!
Pan mandolin
Kentucky mandolin

I was never big on Marshall gear but, they made an amp back in the 70's that was called Orange Amplifiers. This was a very hot and sought after amp.

I like playing all kinds of music - bluegrass, folk, country, R&B, pop, funk, top 40, classic rock, light rock, hard rock, heavy metal, speed metal, death metal, I like it all.

I also enjoy listening to circus music, Pan pipes, classical mandolin and opera. I am constantly listening to music whether it is live, on the stereo or just playing inside my head.

I am a smoker forever!

I've been playing for about 7 years now i too have an ibanez rg with a floyd rose, i also have a schecter damien floyd rose, a fender mustang, and an ovation acoustic if your still new to it Id say get a marshall 2x12 and if your into medal i use the boss metal zone pedal its amazing.

Also if your ibanez is an rg it most likely has a floyd and be sure to make sure the bridge is level and the springs in the back are even you could mess up a guitars intonation big time tuning and re-stringing those wrong
