Exclamation Newport Non-Menthol

I just picked up 2 packs for $3.50/pack. Gonna see how these are since I'm not a menthol smoker and a Non-Menthol Newport caught my eye.

Thumbs down Review

Ok, I don't like menthols so Newports were never high on my list. So I picked up a couple of packs of the new Newport Non-Menthols. $3.50/pack here in WV as of right now.

My normal brand of smoke is Camel (non-filter), so I'm used to full flavorful smoke. These Newport Reds are nothing special. They taste like Marlboro Lights but slighly stronger (which is not a good thing). They give that real airry smoke that has a slight/light cardboard taste that really doesn't satisfy. So overall a no frills normal smoke that I would suggest you pass on unless you like Marb Lights or other Lights... for a full-flavor, seriously lacking.

2.5/5 stars.

I've got a pack, I wouldn't say they're light in strength or taste. It's not tobacco flavored, more chemical tasting but not in a bad way. Pretty strong to me which should seem obvious because they have some of the shortest filters I've seen. Not bad but I don't think I'll buy another pack. They smell worse than regular cigarettes I think.

I need to look into how to add Newport Reds to the list of cig brands so you can post your review there.

I'm smoking the normal Newports again. But I did get a pack of Newport Red 100s for $4/pack in Indiana today. I put the pack in my freezer since I normally put all of my packs/cartons in a fridge or freezer.

I will post my own review of the Newport Reds as soon as I finish my open pack of the normal Newports. I'm trying the Newport Red 100s since I'm used to smoking 100s instead of kings.

Newport Reds actually existed in the early 80s. I remember seeing an ad for Newport Reds off of the net years ago. The ad was from 1981.

Actually, the Newport Reds are already posted on the brand review list. I guess these Newports are not available nationwide yet. Since I still haven't seen them in Chicago at this time.

I tried em. Newport Reds are more like mediums strength-wise. They smell a lil bit like cinammon when lit. The taste is missing the rich flavor and the smoothness other full-flavored regular brands have.

I can see why Newport Reds didn't last long on the market when Lorillard first introduced em to smokers 30 years ago. I can think of at least 2 regular brands I'd rather smoke over Newport Reds.

The normal Newports everyone is used to seeing are still the best! Newport Reds taste like a FAKE cig while the normal Newports are the real thing.

I was wondering about these as they are $3.50 a pack in KY. I wondered if they would be similar to Kent (full flavor) which is Lorillard's regular cigarette although not very popular any more. I've smoked Kent before (back when any brand was $1 a pack) and they were a decent smoke. Guess I'll have to try a pack and see.

Due the intro price these are the cheapest cigs I can buy. I have bought 5 packs in a row due to this. I personally don't think they greatest full flavor cigarette but they aren't bad at all. Plus when I'm really craving for a cig these things really hit the spot. I also really dig the short filter.

However if these things go stale really fast so unless you smoke often these things are going to taste really crappy after like 4-5 days of opening the pack.

I tried them. About 3.50$ or so. I thought they were okay, a little too light for my tastes but not too bad.
