So I picked up a pack of Newport King-Size Menthols today just to try them. My friends and I always joke about Newports being a particular strong "black man's cigarette" (this is not meant to offend, we're not racist! ) but I decided that I really wanted to try one to see what they tasted like.

I smoked about half the pack over the course of 3 days and at the end of the 3rd day I threw the rest in the trash. Newport Cigarettes have to be the most disgusting menthol cigarette I have ever smoked in my life. The reason it took me so long to smoke half a pack is because every time I lit one up and puffed on it I regretted everything about it including even buying the pack.

I am a heavy menthol smoker, but damn these things are nasty!

I discovered this after I tried a few other brands. I can still smoke them, but they do not smell or taste as pleasant as they used to. My favourites are Benson & Hedges Menthol 100s. The soft pack has more menthol while the box as a bit less. My second favourites are L&M Menthol 100s. I have written reviews for these brands as well as Newport.

Benson and Hedges Soft Pack menthol used to be a good Newport alternative. Til PM changed their taste as well as making Benson and Hedges Menthols less stronger.

Newports are the best moking cigarettes in the world. They calm you. I really don't smoke a lot unless I drink. But when I drink I get the urge to have a cigarette. If I didn't have a newport, I wuoldn't smoke anything.

I actually find Newports quite nice; they're not the best menthol i've ever had (Marlboro Skylines win that) but they're not the worst I've smoked either.
