Default Marlboro Mediums Appreciation Thread

The cigarette formerly known as Marlboro Medium (now Marlboro Red Label) is in my mind the perfect cigarette. They are not widely smoked, Reds and Lights are much more popular. The average MM smoker, in my experience tends to be middle-aged men who frequent bars. From this I can take that a large percentage of their base is older smokers who used to smoke Reds, but switched to these because they're lighter and couldn't stomach the "smoking air" sensation of Marlboro Lights. This is unfortunate, because the Marlboro Medium shouldn't be looked at as a lighter version of the Marlboro Red, but as it's own unique cigarette with it's own unique taste. The flavor and harshness of the Marlboro Medium is distinctly different from the Marlboro Red, albeit somewhat similar. However, one shouldn't assume that as it would seem, the Medium is halfway between Marlboro Reds and Marlboro Lights. If the Marlboro Light was a 1 and the Marlboro Red was a 10 on a scale of taste and harshness, I would put Mediums at 7. They are much, much closer in similarity to Reds, than to Lights. If you haven't had the pleasure of enjoying a Marlboro Medium, I'd highly recommend it. If you smoke Reds regularly, I'd especially recommend it. They are close enough in taste and harshness to Reds, that I'd wager 9/10 Reds smokers would enjoy Mediums, but I have to reiterate the fact that the Medium is a completely different cigarette.

On the other hand, I'd wager that a majority of Marlboro Lights smokers would enjoy Marlboro Mediums. I don't think that Marlboro Lights smokers would enjoy it at the 9/10 ratio that Reds smokers would, but I believe a majority of them would enjoy them. Lights are somewhat flavorless, and really don't taste like tobacco at all. The medium gives the Marlboro Lights smoker that tobacco flavor and slight harshness they may be yearning for, while Marlboro Reds may be too strong for them. I used to work in the restaurant industry, which is notorious for its' employees smoking. I was close with many of my co-workers and we often bum each other cigarettes. Many of my friends smoked Marlboro Lights and they consistently bummed Cigarettes off of me, as they enjoyed Marlboro Mediums due to their distant similarity to Lights and their good flavor without an excess of harshness.

The Marlboro medium is a very flavorful cigarette, that is harsh, but not to harsh. It doesn't give you the dry throat sensation that the harshness of Reds gives. It is a very smooth smoke and is easy to smoke, but is far from light. Whenever I have given a Marlboro Medium to a friend or just a mate at the bar who doesn't smoke much, they've almost always had very good things to say about Mediums. Also, they are very good at alleviating stomach discomfort after a night of heaving drinking, as well as the fact that they have some laxative properties, as do all cigarettes, to alleviate indigestion. However, they seem to have more of these properties than others, but not to a highly noticeable degree.

I could go on and on all night, but I'll end by saying that the Marlboro Medium is a great, possibly the greatest cigarette, and I'd highly recommend it to any smoker who hasn't tried them. What's everybody else's thoughts on Mediums?
