Hello I am new here and relatively new to smoking. I started smoking about a year ago when I felt rebellious, tried a few cigs that I didn't like (camel filters was my first, wasn't digging it, and then I tried various menthols such as Camel Crush/Camel Frost/Marlboro Menthols/ until I found Perique Natural American Spirits. These definitely help me get through work =)With my introduction to my recent obsession (I'm watching youtube videos and creeping forums and reviews like crazy), I feel like I tend to smoke my cigarette differently than anyone else. They seem to do the "suck and inhale" method, when I've been so accustomed to the inhaling directly from the cig itself. I tried the suck and breathe today, and holy crap does that hurt. Since I'm relatively new to this, I haven't found out why it hurts so bad - it's not really a burning, its like a "my lungs are going to pop if I don't exhale this moment" feeling. I have a feeling it's just my execution, however people tell me I smoke a rather harsh cigarette. Anyways, love the site and I'll be seeing ya'll around!

welcome to the site, you're probably getting a burning feeling off of your cigarette because you're not sure how to properly inhale, it gets very smooth once you get the hang of it...also, if you are new to it, they now have electronic cigarettes with vapor as opposed to smoke, you might like those better...welcome on board!

So today, since everyone I know that smokes uses the "suck and breathe" method, I decided to suck it up and just do it that way with a whole cig. Holy crap, I can't tell you how wrong I was smoking for SO long. I got happy, light headed - like I was high on the cigarette, and that faded and then I was hyper for a good 4 hours through work, until I came down on it and was a glass of orange juice until I had another one. That being said, I feel like that the perique american spirits, as good tasting as they are, are just too harsh for me. They hurt when I inhale every time no matter how light my draw is, and leaves my throat dry. I also throw in a Djarum Black every once and a while, and the difference between the comfort is just unbelievable - however, those aren't going to be my smokes because they take 15 minutes to burn, are expensive, and are really bad for you. So, I think I'm going to try I smoother version of American Spirits, probably the Organic Lights. I'm also open for suggestions (I'll only smoke American Spirits though - I'm big on the no additives and the no animal testing and what not) ![]() And thanks for the welcome!
