There's been a lot of talk over the fact that smokeless tobacco and e-cigarettes may be less harmful than smoking, but give people their nicotine fix. Have you thought about switching or do you enjoy smoking despite having possibly safer alternatives? I'm wondering if there are any smokers that would talk to me about this for an article I'm writing about. Please e-mail me at mfelberbaum(at)ap.org. Thanks!

I'm kind of considering/half heartedly trying to switch. I started out using cigars and smokeless tobacco. Dipping, swedish snus and Nasal snuff. I picked up cigarettes later on in college. I only smoked occasionally for a long time and it used to have a pack for weeks and just chuck it when it stale. I never became a heavy smoker but got to about 6-10 a day on bad days. I'm not a light smoker as much as I just use about half a can of dip or 8 portions of snus a day and that helps the other part is I can hardly smoke anywhere. My lung capacity dropped moderately to badly. I switched to myo cigs because of taxes in Wa and the FSC crap that makes cigs taste like crap which I've been using for the last two months and now use anywhere from 1-4 a day. The most I've done is 7 and some days I don't smoke. I haven't given e-cigs a try yet.

I smoke cigarettes but also rub snuff a lot, e-cigarettes are just okay not going to spend the money on them though.

I smoke REAL cigarettes for several reasons. Taste is one of them, and I don't see how nicotine laced steam has any taste. So, no, I won't be switching, I'll stick with real cigarettes, thanks!

I am not. I think it is a flavor issue too. And what bar will allow you to exhale water vapor next to a bunch of people?

I'm not switching to cigars, smokeless tobacco, or e-cigs. I prefer smoking the real thing. Cigarettes! hee hee

I smoked a cigar once 3 years ago. Smoking that big thing was different than smoking a cig.

I did switch to ecigs. Mostly for my health, but the taste of FSC's was horrible. I must admit I fell WAAAAAY better than I did last year. When I have a craving for an analog, I don't fight it... I just smoke one. They really don't taste very good to me anymore, so I don't usually finish smoking it. However I do still like to smoke an occasional clove. One of our local family owned stores still has about 50 packs they haven't sold since the ban. I am going to buy them out and carefully freeze them.
