Well said Vic - the blame here should not be placed on the retailer but the government who continues to rape their citizens with outrageous taxes on tobacco products!!

Im always looking for new spots to get my cigs from. I always have to find a new source. My friend mentioned a spot called rnbdistribution.com, only thing is I've never got anything from them. Has anyone heard of this place and is it worth it?

I got a "proposed audit adjustment notice for cigarette compliance" early in May '11 from the friendly folks at the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services for cigs I bought from CD2U from Jan 2006 to Oct 2009.... Bill was over $8313.23.

So, stop worrying about your lost order and let's get thinking about how to beat this unfair tax bill.....The Feds will be sending CD2U records to every state taxing authority....your "tax audit adjustment" is coming to your mailbox soon....dry....no KY included. Get ready.....

BTW: Cigarettes Direct had ALL their assets siezed by ATF....cigarettes, cash, bank accounts, cars, real property, and even forklifts! They didn't screw you.....the US Government is your back door fornicator! Place blame where it belongs! Thanks Obama!

Hey guys, if you got a tax bill that claims that you received "UnStamped" (tax stamps) cigarettes and now you must pay x amount of dollars, that is a false claim in most cases. I received a similiar tax bill in 2005 after eSmokes turned me in to the Florida Dept. of Revenue. I just so happened to have saved every pack of cigarettes I ever ordered in 4 years from that place. When I met with the tax revenuers, I produced over seventeen hundred empty packs of tax stamped cigarettes. All of the brands that I had received from eSmokes from 1999 to 2005. Every pack had a North Carolina or Kentucky tax stamp on them. The tax people were totally embarrassed and they immediately apologized for their error and forgave the entire tax bill. Congressman C.W.Bill Young I think it was put me together with the tax people and actually helped me to present my case against paying the "additional" taxes. At the time, I was posting on many blogs and forums telling my story to anybody that would listen. I had hoped more people would do what I did. Unfortunately, I have never heard of anyone else getting off w/o paying in this manner.

My last order with CD2U was in November of 2009. And guess what? I just received a tax bill from the Comptroller of Maryland yesterday to the tune of $5,000! Sure enough--CD2U kept all their records and the ATF handed them over to the state of Maryland. I guess I am royally screwed now!! Know your state laws when it comes to ordering online. I have not done it in almost two years---but the states (like Maryland that want every tax dollar the can get) will come after you eventually!!!

And that is why I will NEVER order cigarettes from an on-line retailer that is based here in the US ... If they get pressured enough by the government, these US internet cigarette retailers WILL turn over personal information of there customers to the various state tax collectors.

Order from off-shore retailers in Eastern Europe, and I can tell you for sure that they won't be giving any U.S. tax people any info on you. Not a chance!

However, the problem with ordering cigarettes from companies based in countries like the Ukraine, is that you just don't know which ones are honest, and which ones may scam you out of your money ... Big coin toss!

An online smoke shop from overseas that is more of a scam is just about as bad as getting an unexpected back tax bill (for purchases I made at CD2U) from Springfield, IL in my case.

You don't have to worry about me buying from US-based online smoke shops now. Thanks to the PACT Act, most of them are outta business anyway.

I too am in MD and just received a "tax bill." What happened in your situation? Did you just pay it and move on? Did you get additional bills as well?

Thanks

I don't know what happened to the company but I got a bill from the state where they had copies of invoices in my name and address and now want me to pay $12.50 per carton purchased from these people.
Why did this company release my information?
BEWARE:
Your state probably has your name now. Look out!!!

If you're from Ohio hang on to your hat, I just got a bill for $4300+ for CD2U purchases from 1/06 - 12/09. Interesting, it didn't come registered, it didn't specify who I may have purchased from or from what State nor did it indicate any potential penalties or interest. It merely had a listing of all orders, # of cartons and purchase price along with the original order #.

My take is Ohio is trying the low-budget collection method first to see how much they can rake in without much effort. Until they send something registered that proves I received it never happened.

I'd be interested in feedback on how others responded... or didn't.
