Default Smoking Alternatives - What will You do?

With the price of cigarettes steadily increasing as states and the federal government try and cash in on smokers what are you going to do? or try?

I'm always looking for promotions and bargains when I hit up the gas station or grocery store but I've also tried electronic cigarettes, buying cheap Indian smokes and attempting to cut back.

What will smokers be doing next year? in 5 years?

everyone tries to quit, but i really enjoy a good smoke, so if they really continue to tax us to death on cigarette taxes, i guess as a smoking alternative, i would try the electronic cigarettes that people are selling...my friends all seem to like it so far.

I really haven't thought about it much to be honest with you. I have a friend who says hes going to switch to dipping if cigs get too expensive- because he says that smokeless tobacco is a lot cheaper than cigs are. But to me theres a huge difference between inhaling the good taste of smoke, and putting some loose tobacco in your lip and spitting out a bunch of juices for 20 minutes.

I would consider quitting but one thing that would stop me is that I always smoke when I drink, whenever I'm at a party and start drinking- the cigarettes always follow the alcohol. So I think probably the best choice for me would be just switch to cheaper brands or something.

I've been cutting back and started smoking more cigars. I'd ultimately like to make the switch completely but cigars suck at work when you need a quick smoke...

i havent seen anyone talk about it on this site but what about home grown tobacco. ive heard of alot of people havin success in growin their own. theres alot of work to it, but i cant imagin the feeling you get when you smoke a good cig that you put some much time into. im thinkin on startin to grow my own soon as soon as i can get some money together. im thinkin on startin in 2011. its even cheaper than ryo.

I don't understand why so many are interested in electronic cigs. I want the real deal when I smoke. I wanna taste tobacco when I smoke. Not just inhale nicotine in my body. E-cigs have the nic but no tobacco or thick smoke.

What are e-cig smokers gonna do if the US bans e-cigs soon?

Sadly CoolJay I am getting tired of fighting a losing battle. I have been using RYO and thanks to lack of chemicals am now only smoking 3-5 sticks a day down from 2 packs a day. I just want to quit this year so the overweight will then be taxed and feel the burden smokers have felt for years (that is if NY continues it's thrive on taxing the overweight and what they eat). I tried the e-cig thing and I agree with you......just not he same as a genuine smoke.
