Default Matches or Zippo.

What do you prefer to use to light cigarettes? I like zippos myself but I've heard people say they add more carcinogens to the cigarette and some complain that they ruin the taste which I have not picked up yet. Matches definetley have a more traditional feel which I like but I never could manage light one up in the wind which is a disadvantage. So what do you personally prefer matches or a zippo.

I generally always use a bic lighter. Always liked to bum my buddies zippo to light my cigs though cuz the zippo fuel gives it a unique taste. Hate using book matches, they give a bad sulfur taste but a wooden match if allowed to burn awhile is pretty good though.

I have a zippo, but I usually use any lighter I have at the time. Although between zippo and matches I choose matches.

Default Lighting -up

I'll cut my 2 cents worth in by saying :
I light my smokes with a Ronson lighter of
about 30 years old, all black and lots of
scratches but still works great to light up!

Definitely Zippos. So fun to light it and they make the cig taste better.
Matches do give cigs a more natural taste which is nice but I much prefer lighting them with my Zippo.

I had a Kreisler Colibri ladies snap lighter back in the 70's and really loved using it. It was tiny and feminine, but held a fill for at least two weeks and it was silver with my name "Jenny" in a pretty handwriting cursive script engraved on the side. It never smelled of lighter fluid nor leaked whatever. I especially liked it a good bit better than a Zippo because if you dropped it when it was lit, ithe flame automatically went out as the snap top extinguished the flame when you took your thumb off it, whereas sometimes a Zippo will continue burning and burn your carpet, etc. or even start a large fire if dropped while lit.

My cigarettes always seemed to taste cleaner than they did when I used a Bic or other butane, or even a Zippo lighter fluid and flint type. My Kreisler eventually, after more than 10 years of regular use, wouldn't hold a fill as the packing wore out and when I went to the seller ( a jeweler ) to have it repacked, he told me that they had moved over to butane lighters and no longer repaired or repacked the lighter fluid types. I have a vintage one now just like my old one, except it has a map of islands engraved on the side in a darker silver, almost gun metal, and when I bought it off Ebay it was mint in the box, however, there is a filter stuck in it so it remains just sitting on a shelf on display in my living room. I miss that type of lighter, as to me, the Bics are kind of tacky looking. Even with a cover, they look kind of cheap and I don't feel as "special" and snootily stylish as I did when I used my Kreisler. HeeHee....

I personally just use Bic lighters, they're cheap and pretty easy to light with. Though in the wind definitely not as easy to light up with as a Zippo.
