Great post gatrman56. It brought back a few memories. Yeah, I remember paying about thirty cents for a pack. And I remember those now "gone away" brands. Strange days we live in now that in the grocery stores the wine and beer are open and easy to access, but the tobacoo products are under lock and key.

I think a pack of Marlboro was about 1.25 when I started, now they are about 5.50.Lucky Strike are about 7.35-7.50 a pack.I laugh when I see all the beer and vodka commercials. You can get drunk and drive yet its a crime if I smoke a cigarette in public.Reminds me of a joke Dice Clay used to have in his act.

And just think if we all quit, the states and government would lose alot of revenue.I bet that not even half of those taxes go to smoking prevention causes. They go to somebodys fat wallet. If they lost all their revenue they would find something good about smoking.

I wonder what would happen if the tobacco companies stopped shipping to the states with the most restrictive anti-smoking laws? |

I have heard it said that if they never sold another cigarette in the USA they would still make billions because of their overseas sales. One of these days they will find a way to make smoking illegal here.Thats ok as long as I can still get my Luckies on the black market.I dont think the health nuts realize how many people these laws hurt, not just smokers but bars, retailers, farmers etc.I will admit that smoking is bad for you but it is my choice to smoke them.
