I was wondering what kind of lighters you guys like, prefer or use the most.

With me it's the Zippo, long lasting, all American classic. The only downside it the urge to play with it and that slight taste of the fuel you get with the first puff.

I've been wanting one for as long as I've been smoking and just got one today, so I'm happy.

With the poll I tried covering most of the bases. I'm not sure who makes those clear plastic disposable ones, but they are marked with the letters 'MK' where I get them.

I got a silver Zippo. The positive is the Zippo lighta flame is windproof, which is neat. The negative is having to buy these flints that I had a hard time putting in the Zippo. I had an easier time filling it up with lighta fluid although I had to be careful to not spill fluid while re-filling the Zippo.

Zippo makes a good collector's item. That's why I still have it. I got so many long Big lightas (and in so many colors, including pink, orange, red, black, and purple), I don't need new Zippos anymore. LOL

I'm a Zippo guy - always have been and always will be. The unmistakable sound when you open and close it is great.

I have a green matte zippo as green is my favourite colour. I'm still in the process of getting used to it.

Bic is most convienent for me. I have a zippo, but I need some flints. There's really no excuse for me not to have any since they are so cheap, but I'm a lazy bastard.

Lightbulb I have about 3 dozen Zippos in my collection

I have about three dozen zippo lighters that I have collected. I have favorite football teams, wrestlers, US Coast Guard zippo's, a post office one and more. My favorite is red and has little jewels all over it. I have one made of a hardwood, one made of turtle shell, one made of alligator skin, one made of snakeskin, two that have a place on them where you can have it engraved with a special message, a couple of Harley lighters, a Budweisser zippo and several more. My favorite that I use the most is the hardwood one. I have to replace flints regularly. I buy the flints from my favorite online tobacco shop and they are only $0.79 for six flints. I tighten my flints pretty hard because the flint wheel gets dull and it has to be tight to keep making the spark so as a result of that, it needs a new flint more ofter. A small can of fuel has lasted well over a year. I get the fuel from the local grocery store.

I prefer Bics myself- Zippos are a little too pricy for me. I think Bics are nice and cheap and get the job done. I don't see why some people think that they're too good for plastic. The only perk that Zippos have that I like are they are refillable, that's about the only reason I would see to buy a zippo- other than that, I really don't see the appeal to them. I also hate those clear cheap lighters where you can see the lighter fluid in them- those lighters where you can like make the flame rise like 6 feet in the air- those things always get so damn close to burning one of my eyes out.

The highest I ever got the flame on one of those clear plastic ones was about 8 inches, after that it would just spit fluid.

I like bics, but only use them when my zippos out of flints or fuel.

Lightbulb

I keep a zippo in my truck at all times. You don't want to be looking away from the road while driving so that windproof flame just pops right up there and makes it so easy. Try that with a Bic and you might have a traffic wreck!

Yeah, I do that too. I always keep a zippo in my car because I drive around with the windows down a lot and that windproof flame really comes in handy if you want to light up quickly. You have to roll all the windows up if you want to use a Bic and then roll the windows back down. Plus, like you said, you don't have to look away from the road in front of you so less accidents!
