I saw this coming back in the 1970s when the anti-tobacco crowd started
to roll.

Every year they added more and more to their propaganda and their
demand for more restrictions.

It's second hand smoke, third hand smoke...what's next?

I agree that smoking can have a negative impact on our health.
I also think that moderate use of tobbaco can decrease this risk.

But I heard a report the other day citing that smoking one cigarette can led
to permanent health damage.

This anti stuff is only going to get worse and sillier

Default Third hand smoke??

Third hand smoke - You've got to be kidding? I've never heard of that
I'm right there with ya. I'm sick & tired of the commercials...the one that's popular here, is the one with the old guy, in a hospital room with an O2 mask. Jeez!
Screw them. I quit smoking for 15 yrs once. That was long enough lol!
So, I smoke...not like a lunatic. I know an older guy who's a cab driver, who smokes 3 packs of unfiltered Camels a day. He's fine.

I guess it never occurred to some people that, for some folks - Smoking is the only vice they can enjoy (due to other medical problems, or conditions, etc.)

Until about these past 6 months, I used to smoke ~ 4-6 cigs a day. I smoke about 5-8 a day now.
Well, I'll tell you what: When my regular Doctor, heard that I smoked 4-5 a day, he just did that "no big deal" motion with his hand, and told me that there was a study done that found out that a person who smokes 4-5 a day, has the same cardio risks - as someone who doesn't smoke.
And, I Googled it, and I found it - He wasn't kidding.

Of course, I realize that most Folks don't smoke only 4-5 a day; but I just wanted to share and add my $.02

That's our fault. We let this thing to happen, because we don't fight for our rights and most of us acting condescendingly in the fascist antismoking propaganda. The problem is that the thing gone very far. First bans in bars, then in street, then in your own house and after those faschists do the same in salt, alcohol, soft drings, food e.g. basically everything than makes life beautiful.
USSA+ EUSSR=The modern Soviet societies .
I don't believe it's too late to take our freedoms back, but we must organize not only smokers, but also people who feals that something goew wrong with bans.

My doctor told me the same thing. Keep it moderate.

Third hand smoke is now being touted as a danger. What is it?
It's the supposed residue left on your clothes after smoking. A hospital
in our area has banned employees from taking smoke breaks off campus
during work hours because they say the third hand smoke is a health hazard.

Just more propaganda to fuel the nanny states. The company I work for prohibits smoking on company grounds,in company vehicles and customer sites we work at.I can remember walking into bowling alleys, resteraunts, bars etc in a smoke cloud. We all made it out ok.The medical community have put so much fear into people its ridiculous. If they only knew what these corporations pump into the air and water everyday a mere cigarette would be an afterthought.I know eventually I could get cancer or heart disease from smoking but it is my choice to take the risk.I dont need someone to tell me or control my choices.I do not smoke around my children or in the house so they have 0 risk from me.Another thing that kills me is people suing the tobacco companys over their disease. They chose to smoke and take the risk.In a way they started this anti smoking campaign.Should I sue GM if I go out and wreck a car they sold me if it causes me to lose a leg or arm?The FSC thing is the biggest line of crap in the history of the tobacco industry. Not only has it made some people sick,it has ruined several brands especially Marlboro.I think the main goal is to make them taste so bad that people will quit,or like me switch to a more unhealthy brand. I wonder what the old timers think about this? They havent ruined Lucky Strike or Camel non filters yet. That will be next. They will outlaw all non filters.

Wow. Unbelievable. That is so @#$&%! stupid!! Jeez! (re: the "3rd hand smoke")

Great post, Motleydan1.
I'm 42...But, if I had to guess, I would think that it must make the old timers even more pissed-off than we are! That reminds me, I even know a 2nd guy, who smokes 2-3 packs of Camels a day - He's older than me, and he's fine too.
Well, if we want to switch to a healthier brand; we've got American Spirits. Big variety to choose from. I recommend them everyone (who buys packs). I've tried just about every variety of AM's at one time or another.
And, I smoked AM Yellows (lights) for ~2 yrs.
The most noticeable thing for me (and other folks) was when the smoker's cough disappears in ~ 2 weeks after switching.
But, ever since I got my first taste of a hand-rolled (Amber Leaf) cig - That was it for me. I've been SYO/RYOing ever since. I find, that the nice thing about RYO's is that they taste goodtoo! - Bonus!
