Default RYO tobacco

Hi , I'm new and could use some suggestions for roll your own tobacco. I live close to a res and have tried premier, which i like and mcClintock...which was ok. When I go in the res (smokin joes) all the bags, pouches and cans are behind the counter with no prices marked. I have to ask the whiney kid(s) behind the counter to scan multiple brands for me. Apparently I cant get the prices online or a price list.
I'm looking for a decent strong blend (i used to smoke camel filters before the taxes) with a decent price. Is it normal to have to pay $27-$35 for a pound of tobacco? Any suggestions at all would be appreciated, thanks

Bugler is a good brand I have smoked.

Its tobacco consists of a premium Turkish and domestic blend.

It's a decent straight tobacco taste smoke.

i like most of the Peter Stokkebye brands. I prefer there Stockhom blend, Turkish blend, and Norwegian blend, Danish blend is also good but kinda mild.

His question was .. Is it normal to have to pay $27-$35 for a pound of tobacco here in the US?

I have the same question for the knowledgable members here.

Has the US government raised taxes not only on store bought manufactured cigarettes, but also on bulk tobacco so much. that RYO is now not even a cheap alternative to store bought anymore?

Myself, I was seriously considering buying a good quality rolling machine and rolling my own ... but if the tobacco prices have increased this much, I am now thinking about not going that route either.

Anyone here have any input on what's going on here?

Are there better places to purchase cigarette tobacco by the pound that cost much less than $27-$35 ? ?

Thank's,

The government significantly raised the price of cigarette tobacco. You can still buy "pipe" tobacco at a cheaper rate.Pipe tobacco has a longer cut.It is taxed at a lower rate.It is still cheaper to ryo even at the cigarette tobacco rate.I still buy ready made camels and lucky strike.I was never able to find a loose tobacco that I liked,at least for every day use.If you use the pipe tobacco cut you can probably figure 1.50-2.50 a pack, much higher for cigarette cut tobacco. It will also depend on your brand of choice as far as prices go.
