Default NYC taxes

I saw a pack of Marlboro king box for $13.99 at a street vendor in NYC along with candy, periodicals, etc.... There was people buying them just in the few minutes I was there. I guess MB and other filthy greedy politicians have a lot to do with it.

Now in California smokes jsut got another tax added to them so they went up by a buck per pack. I have never smoked so much that I buy a carton though. I pay around 6 to 7 bucks per pack in the Bay Area. That is usually for Camels.

I actually am considering buying cigarettes online now with the prices being so high, but there is legislation preventing me from legally doing so. Am I likely to get caught buying cigs through the mail?

Well, I've been buying cigs online for 2 years (I actually first bought cigs online period 10 years ago and I did so from 1999 til 2004). And I haven't received a trip to jail for buying cigs online. lol

But I think you actually mean back tax bills. I never received those ever since I returned to buying cigs online. But before you buy cigs online, do your research on online smoke shops....the shops on this site's list can help you.

Some smoke shops online actually do report orders from their customers. But it is true Congress is trying to pass a law that will require ALL smoke shops to report orders per month.

PS: Antis call buying cigs online tax evasion. I disagree with that thinking. I call this "I'm doing whatever it takes to save money on buying cigs."

Default Cigarette Prices by State

Prices in VA went up but I'm still paying $39 for a carton of Marlboro at the 7-11. We'll see how long that lasts!

I live in Indiana and Winstons run between $45 and $50 before sales tax. In Louisville, KY they are about $11 cheaper (but they are FSC as most are in Indiana now). I stocked up on non-FSC though (10 cartons) so I am set for a while now.

I live in the bay area in California, just paid $5.97 for a pack of Marlboro blend no. 27. Expensive, but I only smoke once a day anyway.

Live in Massachussetts, for premiums it is costing up to $8.00 because of taxes.

My favorite value brand, Maverick, is now at about $7.00...not exactly a value anymore
