I started smoking when I was 16 years old. It was the dumbest decision I have made in my entire life. Slowly my addiction grew and I slipped from lights to full flavors and finally to non filters. I could feel my health gradually deteriorating. My chest constantly hurt, my teeth were turning yellow, I would wake up in the middle of the night coughing so hard I would throw up. I tried quitting so many times but I was always unsuccessful. I tried patches, gum, cold turkey, and at one point a was hypnotized. Nothing worked. Nicotine addiction is just one aspect the smoking habit. The other aspect is the routine. I quit that nasty 2 pack a day habit using an electronic cigarette. They are absolutely amazing. The last time I had a traditional cigarette was an hour before I got my e-cig in the mail. I have not had the desire to smoke a traditional cigarette ever since. They taste good, they don't stink, you can smoke them indoors at bars and restaurants, and they are alot cheaper in the long run. However, the best feature of this smoking alternative is the ability to step down the nicotine content until you are off the habit for good. I feel a million times better now and I am saving thousands of dollars a year. Good luck on your journey to a healthier you.

That is great! Quitting smoking is one of the hardest things to do...jerry garcia quit cocaine and heroine, but on his deathbed, he was still smoking cigarettes, so if e cigarettes helped you quit smoking, that is great! Congratulations on your accomplishment...i hope now that you're a non-smoker, you don't forget that people that smoke still have rights. LOL

That is so awesome. I am going to try e-cigs to quit but you are totally right. For me it is both the calming relaxing effect of cigs but worse, the habit, and I have smoked for 20 years so that part of it will be the hardest. I quit once but it didn't last long. I was always fidgeting with something, biting nails, etc. Hopefully, these will work because I really do not want my daughter to be motherless. Thanks for the encouragement. I think you finally sold me. Good Luck & Peace

Does anybody know of any serious e-cig side effects? Its a good thing to note that electronic cigarettes may in fact come with a risk of some side effects like a sore throat, headache, dry mouth and bad after-taste. In the scheme of things, this seems like a small price to pay to finally be able to successfully quit smoking and to be able to avoid the dangerous risk of lung cancer to ourselves and others.

I've found (in the research that I've done) that e-cigs have no negatives as far as health goes. Especially when you can control the amount of nicotine that you use in your e-cig, all the way down to none if you choose. At that point you would either be 'vaping' pharmaceutical grade Propolyne Glycol (very thin almost watery) or 100% vegetable glycerine (thick and produces a massive amount of vapor. I have tried many different brands. There is one that I like better and it's for the exact reason mentioned up above. A onine company called Totally Wicked eLiquid You get refillable cartridges and their 'e-juice' (which is the straight nicotine (remember straight nicotine is classified as a poison) mixed with a Propolye Glycol or Vegetable Glycerine. You can also buy the two seperately so you can mix the amount of nicotine you get. From the high strength 36mg, down to the low 10mg and finally no nicotine, straight dilutent! This way you personally know how much nicotine you're ingesting and can control it and wean yourself down to nothing if your objective is to quit. I also posted earlier of a promotion redemtion code: CHRYSLER that I found. That page has since been taken down!?!?! After seeing that, I did go back to their web site and add some items to 'my basket' as if I were checking out and the 'code' still seemed to work. . . I wonder if they didn't want that publicly known? At any rate; those are my 2 cents. I hope it helps. It has most certainly helped me. I rather enjoy the e-cig and since there is no tar, smell, stink, 4,000 carcinogens, smelly clothes/car/hair I feel much safer. I'm posting my review in a lot of forums because I am so impressed with this e-cig thing and I think we all need to get healthier. And if any of you have children in school know that the school pushes the no smoking thing alot (great for them!) downside was my daughter brought home a contract that I had to sign to quit smoking. Well, I did quit smoking (as defined by websters) now I just 'Vape' and love it even more than traditional smoking!!! Durameter! Last edited by Chief Smoker; 03-10-2010 at 02:19 PM.

I'm not sure if anyone saw my post about wanting to speak with smokers who have switched to other tobacco products or e-cigs. If you'd be interested in speaking with me, that would be greatly appreciated. Please e-mail me at mfelberbaum(at)ap.org and I can send you my contact information, or you can send yours along. Thanks.

That is great to hear, I am glad you were able to kick the habit, probably saved your life. I posted a question in another thread asking about these ecigs. Sounds like they might be the right thing for me friend.
