I believe there are only 5 states that don't have FSC laws. But even if you lucky to live in a state without the FSC law, I heard by the start of 2010, ALL of the Big Tobacco companies will be making their cigs FSCs..

All PM brands and all RJR brands are FSCs as of right now. I know some smokers who are dedicated to their Marlboros might not like hearing this. But your best bet of getting a non-FSC brand is by giving the smaller tobacco brands a try, especially Native brands. Since Native brands are the definite ones that will be non-FSCs for a long time.

I can't handle smoking Newports as much as I used to. Sometimes when I smoke a Newport, I can't even finish the whole cig, cause that cig gives me tiny headaches sometimes. I can smoke em outside and feel nothang strange.

Before I tried Native brands, I could smoke 1.5 ppd of Newports easily. Now, I'm smoking more of the Native cigs than Newports. That's actually good for me.

The strange thang is although Newports are FSCs, I NEVA experienced the cherry end of my Newports falling off and burning myself and my clothes. And when I look at an unlit Newport, I don't see those "speed bumps" on the paper that Marlboro smokers see on THEIR FSC cigs.

The speed bumps on Marlboros cause the cig to go out and you gotta re-light it. The only time I ever have to re-light a Newport is if I'm smoking outside on a very windy day/night, and the wind blows the ashes off of my cig.

There is one way you can fight back against FSCs. Be the first smoker to file a lawsuit against Big Tobacco for how FSCs have changed your health. Or google for the "Repeal Fire Safe Cigarettes Petition." Complain to the Coaliation for Fire-Safe Cigs...that organization that's behind the FSCs in the first place.

Coughing out blood while smoking a Marlboro? That's scary as heck.
Yes, luckily for me, I do live in one of the states where Fire Safe cigarettes are not in effect, Thank God. As a matter of fact, I think my state had like a debate about it or something, and the vote didn't pass, so my state was smart enough to vote no to fire safe cigarettes. By the way if you go to www.firesafecigarettes.org, you can find a map of the united states and it tells you which states have the FSC's and which ones dont.
