I started smoking about 6 months ago or so. When I first started smoking, I would directly inhale the smoke straight up into my lungs. I didn't feel really "buzzed" as I would sometimes hear people say, but I would feel relaxed and the addiction was definitely there.

At the smoker's corner at work I would watch other people who smoked with me take big inhales (mouth open) after they'd taken the cigarette out of their mouth. I was curious as to why people did that, so I tried it a few times and it hurt like hell. Didn't cough or hurt my throat, but I felt like my lungs were going to explode.

I then decided that since so many freaking people smoke like this, I decided to man up and smoke a whole cigarette sucking it into the mouth first and then inhaling. It hurt, at first, but I want to say it was the first time I ever really smoked a cigarette - I felt the "buzz" everyone was talking about. This was about a month and a half after I started.
