I voted for Obama for political reform reasons. This SCHIP has been in the offing for awhile though, and we smokers are "fair game". Politics is politics though, and as Parker's story said "pigs is pigs", and see where that got someone. So, if we smokers are "pigs" needing to be taxed will we "multiply" to fill the need? Will we be taxed out of our habit? Or do we find alternative sources (as we've been doing, leading to more cries of hunting down the "tax deadbeats" for collection)?
In NYS, collected tobacco tax is a joke, a free floating fund that can be dipped into at will for a politician's pet (get re-elected) project. At least with the SCHIP there's a "definite" purpose.
